Making sure you fit the guidelines as an applicant for this role is essential, please read the below carefully.Position Title: Gift Manager Posting Number: S192P Department: Trusts & Investments Position Type: Staff Job Description: Job SummaryThe Gift Managers role in Financial Affairs is the project manager for any complex, illiquid gift that is being considered by the College for acceptance and then received and managed if the gift is approved. These types of gifts often are valuable and are very complex, making them difficult to evaluate, receive, and manage. The Gift Manager role will be tasked with managing these three phases and providing the expertise that is necessary to manage the varying gift types. The evaluation phase of the process will require working with IA officers and donors to set expectations and ensure a smooth process for the donor. The Gift Manager will report to the Assistant Treasurer and work closely with the Controller and Treasurer / VP for Finance as well. It is common for charities to avoid complex, illiquid gifts it is the role of the Gift Manager to make this process efficient for the College and allow these types of gifts to benefit its mission.Essential Job FunctionsServe as Financial Affairs project manager for significant and complex incoming gifts. How these gifts are defined will depend on workload capacity, but will include gifts that will require a significant level of planning or continued review after receipt.Work with appropriate Financial Affairs individuals (T&I, Treasurer, Controller offices) and external parties (donors, attorneys, transfer agents, etc.) to review the gift and set a timeline for receiving the gift.This role will be key in allowing the Treasurer to better analyze incoming gifts and ensure that complex gifts are being handled with appropriate care and prioritized effectively.Track timeline progress, adjust the timeline, and communicate as appropriate to all relevant parties, including donorsFor certain gifts, this role will handle almost all of the responsibility to ensure the complex gift is received and handled correctly. For other gift types, this role will coordinate with the different individuals at the College responsible for gift intake and management.Physically inspect certain assets as needed, which will at times require travel to other areas of the country. This will include during the intake process, and after if the College holds the assetCoordinate with the Assistant Treasurer and appropriate IA representatives on the gift pipelineManage, modify, and improve FA gift processes and work with IA to manage the overall gift processDevelop, report, and manage metrics to measure gift process efficiency and effectivenessPerform gift audits on recent significant gifts and set up meetings to discuss problem giftsPresent significant gifts for approval to the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer establish a formal process for approval and work to communicate to external parties Required Qualifications: Minimum education requirements include a Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum experience requirements include at least 5 years in a project or mission-oriented environment the role does not necessarily need an individual with professional project management experience. A dedicated individual with good communication and planning skills, and an ability to take ownership of broad tasks involving various departments, would be successful in this role. Project management and other certifications could be obtained as appropriate. Other Skills: Ability to work well with individuals with different personalities across different departmentsAbility to communicate effectively with donors alongside IA officers and sometimes directly with donors when appropriate. Working well with donors on complex gifts is often crucial to securing the gift for the College and encouraging continued givingA curiosity and love for learning is essential.
