SummaryFind out exactly what skills, experience, and qualifications you will need to succeed in this role before applying below.*This position can be located in our Connecticut or New York offices.*The target base pay range for this role is $160k-185k and is dependent on experience and other relevant factors.The Director of Marketing and Communications leads the firm's marketing operations, communications strategy, and brand management. This role oversees the marketing budget, drives operational improvements, and co-leads technology initiatives with the Senior Manager of Marketing Technology. The Director ensures that all marketing and communications efforts align with the firm's strategic plan and support business growth and client retention.Job DutiesThe following are a sample of the job duties and responsibilities of the Director of Marketing and Communications. This list is not exhaustive, and other duties may be assigned as necessary.Assist the CMO on strategic marketing and communication initiatives.Develop and execute a firmwide communications strategy aligned with business goals.Lead major marketing and communication projects including CRM optimization, public relations, deal tracking, and marketing automation tools.Spearhead a comprehensive website refresh and rebranding effort, including firmwide content and design strategy.Marketing OperationsRefine marketing operations through improved communication, project management systems, workflows, and internal processes.Assist the CMO with managing the marketing budget and expense accountability.Oversee vendor relationships and coordinate with IT and Finance to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.Brand & CommunicationsEnsure consistent brand messaging and tone across all channels and materials.Coordinate with business development directors for event specific/practice group specific materials, communications and graphics.Assist the CMO with development of firmwide messaging including website content, social media, and marketing collateral.When necessary, lead communications with external PR firms on media outreach, press releases, and interview preparation.Partner with business development directors and attorneys to produce thought leadership content.Business Development CollaborationWork with the BD team to create compelling, cross-functional client proposals that align with firm branding.Lead responses to complex RFPs and coordinate internal resources across departments.Team ManagementSupervise the Marketing Coordinator and support team development through training, goal setting, and annual reviews.Oversee the directory submission process for Chambers, Benchmark, Legal 500, and other accolades.Stay engaged with industry trends through active involvement in LMA.RequirementsEducation: Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, communications, public relations or journalism or equivalent experience.Experience: At least 10 years of experience in marketing in a professional services environment and project management experience. Previous experience at a law firm is preferred.Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:Strong written and verbal communication skillsSuperior organizational and project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentA thorough understanding of law firm practiceAbility to lead and influence a team including attorneys, management and administrative staff, and colleagues at all levelsAbility to manage multiple projects concurrentlyAbility to prioritize and perform under changing deadlines and circumstances.Strong focus on customer serviceAbility to thrive in a collaborative, creative, entrepreneurial, team-based cultureAbility to be practical and focused while thinking creatively and completing tasks in a timely mannerDemonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, and self-directed behaviorWorking knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required. Knowledge of CRMs and proposal software a plusAbility to be in the office four days a week, working a full dayEssential Physical/Mental Demands:Ability to sit for extended period of time.Ability to keyboard for extended period of time.Handle material and supplies up to 35 lbs. of weight.Occasional travel to event locations and other offices.Ability to deal with stress due to workload pressures.
