Assistant Professor or Senior Lecturer - CybersecurityLearn more about the general tasks related to this opportunity below, as well as required skills.Salary: $48,043.00 - $68,507.00 AnnuallyLocation: Westminster, MDJob Type: Full Time Faculty-10 Mo.Job Number: FY26-00009Job SummaryThis position is responsible for teaching Computer Information Systems (CIS) and Computer Science (CS) related credit courses for the CIS and CS degrees, and related credit certificate and degree programs. Ten-month faculty are assigned primarily teaching duties of 30 Teacher Load Hours (TLH) during an academic year (approximately 30 credits). The work expectation for faculty is 37.5 hours per week for professional duties; however, actual hours worked on- and off-campus in any given week can vary according to grading, class preparation requirements, meeting schedules, professional development activities, and office hours. Ten-month faculty responsibilities are primarily to teach students and assess learning and secondarily to engage in professional development and to provide service to the college community. This position reports to the Program Director, Cybersecurity, C.I.S., and Computer Science.Essential Job FunctionsTeach the equivalent of 30-teaching load hours during an academic yearRelease time available as applicable for the following dutieso  Provide technical support and coordination for classrooms, labs and faculty in the Cybersecurity programo  Assist the Cybersecurity Program Director with program-related administrative tasks as neededHold classes as scheduledDesign assignments and/or give required assignments to measure student learningProvide clear and concise feedback to students in a timely manner (generally within two weeks)Check and respond to all emails within two business daysPost the syllabus, faculty information, and a welcome announcement for Preview Week and maintain a current gradebook in the Learning Management SystemHold required office hoursAssist students and direct them to appropriate resourcesContribute to student retention and completion initiativesParticipate in outcomes assessment and respond to dataCollaborate with student support offices and professionalsReport grades and reconcile Incompletes as necessaryEngage in professional developmentAttend required meetings and complete mandatory trainingsServe on committees to support the college missionAdapt to emerging challenges and demands to serve the college and its studentsFollow policies as outlined in the Faculty HandbookPerform other duties as assignedMinimum Requirements to Perform WorkTo qualify for Senior Lecturer rank placement, a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (M.I.S. C.I.S., etc.) is requiredTo qualify for Assistant Professor rank placement, a master's degree in computer science or related field (M.I.S. C.I.S., etc.) is requiredDemonstrated experience with programming languages such as Java, C, and/or Python.Ability to use technology in teachingMust be positive, cooperative, and supportivePREFERRED:Master's degree in Computer Science or related fieldPrior teaching experience at the college level in Computer SciencePrior teaching experience or professional experience in a related field such as Cybersecurity, Data Science, Statistics, or MathematicsSupplemental InformationSALARY INFORMATIONThis position will be placed on the 10-month College faculty salary scale.  Salary range listed includes both applicable ranks for Senior Lecturer and Assistant Professor levels.  Actual salary and faculty rank placement is based on qualifications and experience. Position includes an excellent fringe benefit package.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:This work is normally sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
