NW Contracting is a specialty construction company located in Alden, NY. Since 1989, we have completed thousands of projects across all our areas of service - remediation, drilling, fuel systems, and general contracting. We are looking for a full-time Fleet Mechanic to join our Team. The ideal candidate will have (2+) years of prior mechanical experience, preferably in heavy equipment.A variety of soft skills and experience may be required for the following role Please ensure you check the overview below carefully.*Summary: *Performs and schedules all phases of maintenance andrepair on vehicles, equipment, and facility by performing the duties listed below.*Job Title: *Fleet and Diesel Mechanic*Salary*: $25-35.00/HR based on experience*Duties and Responsibilities *include the following. Other duties may be assigned.* Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance on all equipment, fleet vehicles, and specialized equipment, such as oiling and lubricating, troubleshooting malfunctions, and completing minor/major repairs.* Maintain an updated and accurate maintenance/repair log on all machines for reference purposes.* Respond to emergencies under adverse working conditions and make informed and accurate decisions.* Monitor maintenance/repair related supplies and report needs to management.* Maintain equipment, supplies, and company vehicles in good working order.* Follow job-related safety regulations as prescribed by training guidelines.* Requisition of cost-effective supplies and items for equipment maintenance/repairs as needed.* Use hand tools and related repair equipment to perform minor and major repairs.* Coordinate with project managers and upper management on repair/maintenance priorities and timelines.*Benefits:*In addition to our company culture and competitive compensation, NW Contracting employees are eligible for a number of additional benefits.* Health, dental, and vision insurance* Paid time off (starting after 90 days)* 401k retirement plan w/ employer matching* Profit sharing* Company-paid supplemental short-term disability* Company-paid life insurance*Qualifications:*To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.*Math Ability:*Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.*Reasoning Ability: *Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.*Certificates and Licenses: *Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)Prior general mechanical maintenance experience is required.
