Children's Ministry Leader Position DescriptionTo be considered for an interview, please make sure your application is full in line with the job specs as found below.College Street Congregational Church Part-time position, averaging 10 hours per weekAt College Street Congregational Church we seek to introduce and to nurture children in the love of Jesus Christ through kindness, acceptance, discovery and joy. We are seeking a leader for our programs for young children (from infancy to 5th grade), collaborating with parents, other staff, and our pastor. The Children's Ministry Leader provides strategic direction for both education and activities for children and their families in the church community.The Children's Ministry Leader duties are as follows:â— Treats all children with kindness and respect while maintaining a structured environment in which they know that they are loved and that they are safeâ— Selects and organizes a UCC compatible curriculum through which children can learn and experience that they are loved and that they have been given the gift of loving othersâ— Recruits, trains and coordinates schedules for Sunday School teachers (K-5)â— Plans, develops and provides a monthly party or event for the childrenâ— Recruits Nursery volunteers and coordinates the schedules of staff and substitutes for in-person servicesâ— Maintains the Children's Corner of the church with materials and activities; refreshes supplies as neededâ— Plans, coordinates and attends the annual intergenerational Peace Camp, an opportunity for all ages to participate in a week-long spiritual even co-hosted with First Congregational Churchâ— Maintains good communication; collaborates with parents, volunteers, staff, pastor and the congregation at large through conversations, meetings and written reportsâ— Plans and coordinates annual events along with the Youth Ministry Leader and the Faith Formation Ministry Teamâ— Submits News from the Pews (NFTP) and Banner articles as necessaryâ— Attends quarterly Faith Formation (FF) Ministry Team meetingsâ— Creates and provides activities for children and families to use during church service throughout the summer months when there is no church schoolâ— Maintains church school designated spaces and coordinates shared spaces with HeadStart as neededâ— Supports special opportunities and projects as neededSkills NeededThe Children's Ministry Leader should have strong communication skills, creative coordination skills and flexibility to fill in and help as needed. A background in children's education with church experience would be ideal but not required. Associates or bachelor's degree and experience with the United Church of Christ preferred. The Children's Ministry Leader plays an integral role with the Youth Ministry Leader based at First Congregational Church and the leadership team of the College Street Congregational Church. The work of the Children's Ministry Leader is guided by the Faith Formation team. This position is supervised by the pastor of College Street Congregational Church.
