The Welder is responsible for fabricating, repairing, and assembling railroad switch material and rail components to ensure high-quality, durable, and safe products. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience welding heavy steel, with a strong focus on precision and safety.Responsibilities / Job Duties: Perform MIG and Stick welding on switch points, frogs, stock rails, closure rails, and other railroad switch components.Weld rail sections, joints, and assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards.Set up, adjust, and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.Inspect welds for quality, durability, and compliance with specifications; make necessary repairs and adjustments.Grind, cut, or bevel metal parts to prepare surfaces for welding and finishing.Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.Preheat and postheat metal parts as required to maintain metallurgical integrity.Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and weld quality checks.Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry standards for welding in a heavy manufacturing environment.Assist with general fabrication, fitting, and assembly duties as needed.Requirements/Qualifications: Proven experience in MIG and Stick welding, preferably on heavy steel components.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with measuring tools (calipers, gauges, etc.).High attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.Physical ability to lift heavy materials, work in various positions, and tolerate outdoor/industrial conditions as required.Ability to read and understand work instructions, and to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing to work effectively in a team environment.Certification in welding (AWS, or equivalent) preferred but not required.Prior experience welding railroad components is a plus.Open Schedule:Monday - Friday, dayshift hours.Pay: $20 per hourBenefits:Pay Schedule: Paid weekly!Health Coverage: The company covers 80% of medical, dental, and vision premiums, ensuring comprehensive healthcare for you and your family.Retirement Savings: Enjoy immediate full vesting in our 401(k) plan, with a generous company match to support your financial future.Life Insurance: Receive company-paid life insurance for peace of mind and security.Paid Time Off: 11 paid holidays, plus paid vacation, and sick time available in your first year.Work-Life Balance: Supportive benefits designed to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance.
