The Construction Safety Specialist position performs safety supervisory and consulting responsibilities in accordance with the H&K policies and applicable local, state and federal laws. This position will oversee and supervise job sites throughout Susquehanna, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Carbon, Monroe, Schuylkill and Luzerne Counties, PA, or as assigned based on the needs of the business.Why work for H&K Group, Inc.?Competitive salary commensurate with experience100% Company-paid Health Benefits401(k) Savings and Investment PlanTuition reimbursement programs available to qualifying employees for approved programsCompany provided on-the-job transportation to meet job responsibilitiesResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInspects H&K Group, Inc. job sites to detect existing or potential incidents and health hazards, documenting through safety software and recommending corrective or preventative measuresConducts and participates in the root cause analysis of incidents, injuries, and vandalism in all H&K Group, Inc. divisions and affiliates, developing and implementing preventive measuresCollects incident documentation and submits reports, assisting operations team and communicating with regulatory authoritiesDevelops, coordinates, and conducts training to increase proficiency in safe practices and promote a safety focused cultureParticipates in regulatory audits and inspections, assisting operations teams with compliance and prompt corrective actions, as neededCommunicates and collaborates with Field Safety Specialists and Safety Department management daily to ensure appropriate safety coverage of all job sites and programsPerforms industrial hygiene surveys, determining proper engineering and administrative controls, issuing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE)Maintains orderly documents and records.Other duties as assignedQualificationsRequired Skills, Education, and ExperiencePreferred Skills, Education, and Experience5+ years of direct construction safety oversight experienceBachelor's or Associate's degree in occupational safety and health, environmental health and safety, physical sciences, or other relevant programs with a focus on health, safety and/or environment from an accredited educational institutionOSHA 500 Card for Outreach Trainer AuthorizationAbility to read and interpret plans and construction drawingsBCSP credentials such as STS-C, CHST, ASP, or CSPRequired Skills, Education, and ExperienceAt least 2 years of relevant health and safety experience in the heavy civil construction industry, or related industries regulated by OSHAKnowledge of OSHA regulationsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to adapt and respond to changing variablesIntermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)Valid driver's license with clean driving record30-hour OSHA (Construction) card or ability to obtain one within 3 months of hireAbility to work well with a team and willingness to collaborateWillingness to travel locally dailyAbility to meet physical requirementsPhysical DemandsFrequently required to WalkLift and/or move up to 75 poundsRegularly required to talk or hearSpecific vision abilities include CloseDistancePeripheralDepth perceptionWork EnvironmentOccasionally exposed to Moving mechanical partsVibrationHigh, precarious placesFumes or airborne particlesOutside weather conditionsNoise level is usually moderateHours regularly exceed 40/weekRegularly on call 24/7The H&K Group, Inc. provides complete heavy civil contracting and construction materials solutions with safety, speed, quality, efficiency, and value.
