Job Description

The Machining Operations Manager will manage the day-to-day activities of the organization's machining operation. The role will implement company policies, procedures, and initiatives and evaluate to enhance current operational systems. The Machining Operations Manager will establish operational goals and develop reporting and auditing processes used to measure operational effectiveness. The role will oversee the analysis and review of budgets and schedules of the operation as well as manage and advise team members. This position is located in Farmington, MI. Click here for a short video about Roush's Machining Capabilities.All potential applicants are encouraged to scroll through and read the complete job description before applying.As a Machining Operations Manager, you will:Manage an operational budget, Capital Expenditures (CapEx), forecast facility, equipment, human, and monetary resource needs to support operational growth.Monitor and evaluate staff performance including productivity, quality, goal setting and discipline while inspiring changes to culture and organization.Set strategic long and short-term operational goals and evaluate outcomes using KPI metrics.Evaluate and enhance current operational systems including safety, quality, and productivity while adhering to company policies, procedures, and industry regulations.Identify new technology and industry trends to optimize operational efficiency and throughput.Minimum qualifications to be considered:High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of 10 years of CNC machining experience, including 5 years of machining operations management experience.U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident allowing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance.Experience with risk analysis, cost estimating, planning and scheduling, and ISO 9001 Quality Management System and audits.Experience working with various special alloys, castings, and forged materials.Ability to interpret complex part drawings and understanding GD&T requirements.Knowledge in a variety of machining and fixturing practices, CNC programming, heat treatments, and finishes.Ability to manage, mentor, and train shop personnel while inspiring change and maintaining positive engagement.Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.Excellent computer skills and knowledge in MS Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.A successful candidate may also have:Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, or related field.Experience with complex prototype billet parts, weldments, and low volume machined castings or forgings.Developing process control plans, PFMEA, and work instructions.Experience working with Aerospace and Government Defense rated parts.Familiarity with 5S, International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics to drive results.Knowledgeable about ISO AS9100D quality management standards.Skills in implementing and managing preventative maintenance schedules.To apply for this position and view all of our other career opportunities at Roush, click here: is an EO employer - Veterans/Disabled and other protected categories.
