Provide input for developing contract documents and specifications for construction of new infrastructure. Develop sketches, drawings and procedures for work to be done by City field crews under the work order program. Perform construction inspections on small in-house projects and/or commercial development as required. Work under the supervision of the Assistant City Engineer and the general supervision of the City Engineer and Public Works Department Director and does not have supervisory responsibilities.This position is designated as Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.Salary:$62,088 - $77,610 annually, depending upon qualifications and experienceSchedule:Monday-Thursday, 7:30 am - 5:30 pm, Friday 7:30 am-11:30 am (40 hours/week)Benefits:Regular full-time employees are eligible for excellent benefits, including:Affordable health InsurancePension and supplemental retirement plansWellness Initiatives, including $0 copay behavioral health servicesSmartDollar financial wellness toolOn-site fitness centerFor a detailed summary of benefits go to: .Essential Functions:Operate Computer Aided Design (CAD) Software for Civil DesignPerform Survey and Field Investigations/ReconnaissanceInteract with Internal (other Departments) and External Clients (Citizens)Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience:Associates degree in a technical discipline specializing in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D is requiredA minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the design/drafting of civil engineering related projects is required.Preferred experience includes design and/or construction of water distribution, wastewater collection, streets/roadways, stormwater systems, GIS Experience using ESRI software and OFMA training.Valid Oklahoma Drivers' License with acceptable driving record**Resume required with application** KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (to be obtained by completion of probationary period)Knowledge of:Surveying, civil engineering, drafting terminology, methods, practices and techniquesMicrocomputers, including word processing, spreadsheet and data base software packagesComputer aided drafting. Evidence of CAD proficiency in the latest version of AutoCAD Civil 3D will be requiredPavement management software operation and maintenanceEngineering maps, records and record-keeping systemsMethods and materials used in construction of public work facilities.Narrative and statistical reports preparation, including methods and formattingProficiency in high school algebra, geometry and trigonometry. College classes in these subjects preferableAbility to:· Perform Field Surveys w/ GPS Rover Unit and/or levels· Prepare Detailed Plans for Utility, Street, Drainage and Site Projects Utilizing Civil 3DUpdate Water, Sewer, Drainage atlases, maintain pavement management software, and relay information to the City's GIS Analyst.Working Environment and Physical Requirements:Most work will be performed in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. There may be occasional outdoor work (10%). May interact with staff and/or public and private representatives, some of whom may disagree, in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.Tasks may typically require sitting or standing in, or walking between work areas. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Additionally, this position may occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information.
