This Manager position works closely with the Board of Directors to execute the organization's mission, manage resources effectively, and advance the interests of the members and the clients the association represents and supports.Managing Director Key Responsibilities:Strategic LeadershipDevelop and implement strategic plans that align with the association's mission, vision, and goals.Provide guidance and support to the Board of Directors in governance, planning, and decision-making.Monitor trends, challenges, and opportunities within the industry to ensure the association remains relevant and forward-looking.Operational Oversight of Business DivisionsLead and oversee day-to-day operations of payroll, and member services.Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll, tax, and data-security laws across multiple jurisdictions.Establish performance metrics, service standards, and process improvement systems for each division.Oversee software systems (e.g., payroll platforms, accounting software, client portals).Prepare strategic updates and key metrics for board review.Recommend policy and program adjustments based on operational data.Define KPIs for financial performance, client satisfaction, and staff productivity.Regularly review data dashboards and provide performance summaries to the board.Membership Engagement & GrowthFoster strong relationships with existing members while developing strategies to recruit and retain new members.Ensure high-quality programs, events, and communications that deliver value to members.Act as the primary liaison between the association and its membership, promoting transparency and engagement.Oversee client relationship strategy across payroll, accounting, and merchant services.Address client escalations and ensure consistent service delivery standards.Guide communication strategy for both association members and business clients.Financial & Operational ManagementOversee budgeting, financial reporting, and fiscal accountability to ensure long-term stability.Manage staff, contractors, and vendors to deliver programs and services efficiently.Direct all financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management.Develop and adjust fee structures to sustain operations and margin targets.Approve financial reports, audits, and client billing policies in partnership with the Office Manager.Ensure accurate payroll tax payments and filings for client accounts.Compliance and Risk ManagementEnsure the association and its business services comply with federal and state laws, IRS regulations, and data-privacy standards.Oversee contract management, insurance coverage, and organizational risk mitigation.Maintain oversight of cybersecurity, confidentiality, and document retention policies.Renewal of Property and Casualty policies.Technology and Systems OversightOversee selection, implementation, and optimization of technology platforms used in payroll, accounting, and association management.Drive automation and process integration across business units.Co-manage IT systems with Dirk's groupCommunity and Industry EngagementRepresent the organization within the hardware industry and professional networks.Build partnerships that enhance visibility and service opportunities.Managing Director Qualifications:Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.Minimum of 7-10 years of leadership experience Proven track record of strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and financial management.Skills & CompetenciesStrong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire collaboration and consensus.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to represent the organization professionally and persuasively to diverse audiences.Proficient in budgeting, strategic planning, and governance best practices.Understanding of policy development and advocacy processes preferred.ABR Employment Services is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
