YBC is seeking driven and ambitious associate attorneys and Rule 9 Legal Interns to join our law firm in our criminal defense municipal court misdemeanor unit at Bremerton Municipal Court.Check all associated application documentation thoroughly before clicking on the apply button at the bottom of this description.YBC provides the opportunity to work in a supportive environment with significant training and opportunities to improve trial skills by providing active courtroom experience with ongoing support.Attorneys represent indigent clients in all stages of misdemeanor criminal proceedings, including arraignment, motions, trial, and review hearings.Previous experience is advantageous but not required. If you do not have experience as a Misdemeanor or Criminal Defense Attorney, we will train the right candidate.*Responsibilities:** Provide legal representation for accused at in-custody arraignment proceedings.* Preparation and presentation at pretrial motion practices.* Trial preparation, investigation and presentation.* Plea negotiation processes.* Responsibility to present appeals to Superior Court and provide legal representation during the appellate process.* Representation at sentencing proceedings, post-trial motions and revocation proceedings.* May supervise Rule 9 Legal Licensed Legal Interns, if eligible.* Manage a substantial caseload of clients.*Requirements:** Licensed member of good standing with the Washington State Bar.* Ability to meet Washington State Supreme Court Standards for Indigent Defense.* A demonstrated commitment to parents' rights, indigent defense, and social justice issues.* Experience or interest in how race, gender, national origin, disability, and class intersect to create disparities for individuals and families experiencing state intervention in their lives and a willingness to challenge the state when it exists.* Experience and/or ability to provide representation with energy, enthusiasm and a commitment to trauma-informed, anti-racist, intersectional, non-judgmental, and truly holistic advocacy throughout the case.* Be responsive to, and communicate clearly with, clients who are often under great stress.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.* Strong critical thinking and research skills.* Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.* Ability to work autonomously and with a team of attorneys.Job Type: Full-timePay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per yearBenefits:* 401(k) matching* Dental insurance* Flexible schedule* Health insurance* Life insurance* Paid time off* Parental leave* Professional development assistance* Vision insuranceSchedule:* 8 hour shift* Day shift* Monday to FridayPeople with a criminal record are encouraged to applyLicense/Certification:* WA Bar License (Preferred)Ability to Commute:* Port Orchard, WA 98366 (Required)Work Location: In person
