*Assistant District Attorney- Felony Court*If your skills, experience, and qualifications match those in this job overview, do not delay your application.The Grimes County District Attorney's Office prosecutes adult felonies and misdemeanors including in the three Justice of the Peace Courts.This position is for an experienced prosecutor, who will be primarily responsible for representing the State in District Court in felony cases. Felony prosecutors are expected to investigate and evaluate facts involving criminal matters, perform case evaluation & make appropriate charging decisions, assist with Grand Jury, prepare legal documents & appellate trial briefs on felony cases, make plea offers, and review arrest and search warrants on felony cases. Our office operates under a team-oriented philosophy. Felony prosecutors work closely with their legal assistant and the Investigators. The prosecutor will be expected to work cooperatively with local law enforcement, contact victims, and work closely with our Crime Victims Coordinator and Crime Victims Liaison to serve our victims.*ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:*· Represent the State in District Court, including handling Dockets, Bond Forfeiture, Pretrial hearings and Trials. Represent the State in the County Court at Law or JP Court as assigned· Manage Discovery compliance for assigned cases· Represent the State for Asset Forfeiture cases· Draft legal notices and documents for criminal cases in accordance with the law· Staff investigations of criminal cases with local law enforcement officers to include: evaluating probable case in a case, assisting with search warrants and evaluating the progress of an investigation to identify additional case needs· Delegate tasks to Legal Assistants or Investigators· Represent the State in Asset Forfeiture cases as assigned· Attend Bail Bond Board meetings as assigned· Participate in adult sexual assault multi-disciplinary team meetings as assigned*Salary, Qualifications & Benefits*Salary is $110,000 to $118,000 (based on previous experience).A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school is required. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas. Experience handling felony cases is preferred.Benefits include: MCLE costs, TDCAA dues, State Bar dues, retirement through TCDRS retirement system, and health insurance.*Community*Grimes County is a growing community, which is approximately 20-30 minutes from College Station/Bryan, home to Texas A & M University. It is close to Montgomery, Conroe, Magnolia, and The Woodlands Texas via Highway 249 (Aggie Parkway). Grimes County is bordered by Walker (Huntsville), Montgomery (Conroe/Woodlands), Waller, Washington (Brenham), and Madison Counties. The City of Navasota has become a tourist destination with shops, upscale restaurants & hotels, wine bars, a rooftop bar, and a speakeasy in the historical P.A. Smith Hotel.
