You'll lead patient care activities, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and support a healing environment through compassionate, evidence-based practice.Responsibilities include:Applying the nursing process through Relationship-Based CareCreating personalized care plans with patients and familiesCommunicating effectively with care teamsIdentifying and addressing clinical and psychosocial needsLeading or participating in quality improvement initiativesMentoring new nurses and studentsEngaging in shared governance and professional developmentPromoting a healthy, inclusive workplace cultureScheduleThis position requires rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, to ensure 24/7 coverage in the Emergency Department.Education & Experience:BSN preferred; Master's in Nursing or related field may substitute for certification requirement. Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required. Must receive and maintain a Solid/Strong/Good or higher rating on annual Professional Staff Nurse Performance Evaluations. Completion of 2 professional contributions annually (or 1 contribution with certification), aligned with department, hospital, or system goals and approved by Unit Director per UPMC's My Nursing Career Ladder. Skills & Abilities:Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to lead others in applying the nursing process. Effective communication and relationship-building with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Capable of working in a fast-paced, complex environment with changing priorities and specialized equipment. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and patient positioning. Demonstrates cultural awareness and contributes to a healthy workplace. Licensure, Certifications & ClearancesRequired:Current RN license in Pennsylvania or a compact state. CPR (BLS) certification per AHA standards (didactic + skills demo) within 30 days of hire. ACLS, PALS, and NIMS certifications within 6 months of hire. Preferred:UPMC-approved nursing certification (not required if Master's or DNP is held).
