*Senior Attorney - Landlord-Tenant *Be one of the first applicants, read the complete overview of the role below, then send your application for consideration.The Senior Attorney - Landlord-Tenant Department will be responsible for overseeing the firm's landlord-tenant and housing litigation matters. This individual will manage case strategy, supervise paralegals, and play an instrumental role in growing the department. The ideal candidate will possess excellent courtroom skills, sound judgment, and the ability to balance high-quality client advocacy with department leadership. While senior experience is preferred, an exceptional mid-level attorney with a strong record of success, initiative, and leadership potential will also be considered*What you'll do** Lead all aspects of the firm's landlord-tenant and housing litigation matters, including Supreme, Civil, and Housing Court proceedings.* Collaborate with partners on department goals and client outreach.* Represent co-op and condo boards, landlords, and owners in litigation, mediations, and settlement negotiations.* Provide proactive legal guidance on rent stabilization, HP proceedings, access issues, and construction-related disputes.* Contribute to firm marketing initiatives, CLE programs, and client education efforts.* Represent clients in NYC Housing Courts, including non-payment and holdover proceedings.* Draft and review legal documents such as rent demands, termination notices, predicate notices, and settlement agreements.* Litigate plenary actions, including breach of contract and lease disputes.* Provide day-to-day legal counsel on lease defaults, lease modifications and evictions.* Represent co-op and condo boards, landlords, and owners in Supreme Court, Housing Court, Civil Court, and administrative proceedings (e.g., DHCR).* Litigate disputes involving unauthorized alterations, access refusals, construction damage, injunctions, trespass, breach of contract, and professional negligence.* Conduct all phases of litigation including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, and trials.* Prosecute and defend complex commercial lease and property disputes.*Basic qualifications** Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.* Active New York State Bar license in good standing.* Minimum of 7 plus years of experience in NYC co-op, condo, and/or landlord-tenant law.* Demonstrated success managing cases and mentoring junior attorneys.* Strong advocacy, analytical, and negotiation skills.* Excellent legal research, drafting, communication and leadership abilities* Knowledge of NYC housing laws, and Housing Court procedures*Preferred qualifications** Proven experience in landlord-tenant law with a solid understanding of related areas such as securities law and patent law.* Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successful settlements.* Excellent writing skills for legal drafting and documentation.* Familiarity with legal administrative processes within a law office setting.* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).* Strong organizational and time-management skills.* Ability to work independently and collaboratively*About us*We are a boutique real estate law firm specializing in co-op and condo governance, landlord-tenant disputes, and property transactions in the dynamic New York City market.
