This role will elevate REACH's housing policy efforts under REACH 2030 + Beyond and spur community action by collaborating directly with regional employers and housing stakeholders.The position will lead and grow REACH's workforce housing policy, strategy and partnership efforts. This includes mobilizing community voices around housing and playing a key role in storytelling and amplification in partnership with REACH's Communications department to shape the narrative around workforce housing. The individual will also track and analyze relevant local, state and federal housing and infrastructure policies and actively develop new partnerships and initiatives to advance regional workforce housing goals. By coordinating advocacy, communications and policy, this role aims to accelerate momentum on the need for more workforce housing and double down on creative solutions for the region.*Ideal Candidate*_The ideal candidate will combine housing policy, land use or real estate knowledge and advocacy skills, and be adept at navigating government processes, building partnerships and inspiring and equipping stakeholders to advocate for workforce housing solutions.__This individual thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, can anticipate and respond to opportunities as they arise, and is motivated by making tangible progress toward solving the region's workforce housing challenges._*Core ResponsibilitiesPolicy & Partnership Coordination** Serve as REACH's primary point of contact for housing policy, engaging with developers, advocates, employers, and government leaders.* Track and interpret housing, land use, and infrastructure policies across local, state, and federal levels.* Analyze regional housing inventory and data across jurisdictions to inform strategies and policy recommendations.* Lead engagement strategies that rally employers, employees, various organizations, and community members in support of workforce housing.* Identify and advance new partnership and project opportunities, including exploring non-private lands suitable for housing development.* Represent REACH in housing coalitions, government meetings, and key regional housing discussions.* Support alignment between housing efforts, infrastructure planning, and economic growth initiatives*Advocacy & Communications Integration** Coordinate and strengthen regional housing coalitions and advocates, providing tools, resources, and training to equip effective local voices.* Collaborate with the Communications and External Affairs team to translate complex policy into accessible stories, position papers, and advocacy tools.* Collaborate with the Communications and External Affairs team to develop clear, consistent messaging on the economic and community value of workforce housing.* Amplify partner and community voices to build public momentum and reinforce housing as a shared regional priority.* Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and reports for multiple audiences.* Present in public forums on the topic of workforce housing in a sincere, calibrated, and professional manner.* Maintain housing progress dashboards and reports to monitor key metrics across the region.*Qualifications** Bachelor's degree in public policy, urban planning, real estate development, real estate financing, community organizing, or a related field or equivalent experience.* Minimum 5 years of experience in advocacy, community organizing, housing policy, real estate, community development or a related area.* Demonstrated success mobilizing diverse groups of stakeholders to engage on policy.* Knowledge of land use, housing, and infrastructure policies and processes in California.* Strong communication and public speaking skills, including the ability to inspire others.* Experience coordinating with communications teams, with an understanding of narrative framing and the role of strategic communications in advancing advocacy goals* Experience building coalitions and fostering partnerships across sectors.* High ethical standards and commitment to REACH's mission and values.* Ability to travel regularly within the 2-county region and to attend evening government meetings (e.g. city council meetings, planning commission meetings) and events.*Compensation and Benefits*This is a full-time, exempt position.* Salary: $90,000 annually* Health Insurance* Healthcare FSA* Paid Vacation* PTO* 401k* Professional Development* Phone/Internet Stipend*Why REACH *REACH is a fast-growing economic impact organization advancing prosperity on California's Central Coast through big thinking, bold action, and regional collaboration. xijylhu As a team of doers and problem-solvers, we work across sectors to create a future where the Central Coast is a place where every generation can thrive.*Equal Opportunity Statement*REACH is an equal opportunity employer and does not engage in practices that discriminate against any person employed or seeking employment based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national or ethnic origin, age, marital status, physical or mental disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected under applicable law.Job Type: Full-timePay: $90,000.00 per yearBenefits:* 401(k)* Flexible spending account* Health insurance* Health savings account* Mileage reimbursement* Paid time off* Professional development assistanceWork Location: Hybrid remote in San Luis Obispo, CA 93401
