*HVAC Technician *If you are interested in applying for this job, please make sure you meet the following requirements as listed below.Position DescriptionPosition Title: HVAC TechnicianReports To: Maintenance SupervisorStatus: Hourly/Non-ExemptJob Type: Full-timeSupervises: N/ALocation: OfficeReporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the HVAC Technician performs mission critical maintenance, repair and installation of equipment that is essential to both the success of our scientific mission as well as the safety and comfort of our Staff and Visitors.You will be joining our small team of professional technicians who pride themselves on teamwork, safety, and excellence.Competencies:* Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning system operation.* Faultfinding on HVAC, refrigeration, electrical (HVAC related) and control systems.* Have a good understanding of computerized building management systems (BMS).* Exceptional adherence to safe work practices.* Exceptional organization skills.* Excellent oral and written communication.* Attention to detail and good judgement.Following are the main responsibilities of the HVAC Technician:* Utilize a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to receive, track and create work orders.* Assists in the operation, preventive maintenance, replacement, and repair of all mechanical plant which includes (but not limited to) chillers, DX cooling, heat pumps, pumps, high pressure steam boilers, high pressure steam distribution and condensate return systems, hot water boilers, humidification and dehumidification systems, air handling systems, cool rooms, ultra-low temperature freezers, building management and control systems, and other related equipment.* Perform routine inspections of all mechanical systems and areas served. Make recommendation to supervisor for any repairs or required adjustments identified during these inspections.* Perform preventive maintenance of all mechanical plant adhering to equipment manufacturers recommendations and recognized industry best practice.* Operate and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment utilized in the HVAC trade.* Coordinate, supervise and monitor work of outside contractors.* Ability to work independently without supervision.* Ability to work extended hours to complete projects when required.* Respond to after-hours emergencies when required.* Performs other tasks as required.Knowledge and Skill Requirements:* High school graduate or equivalent.* Two years of documentable HVAC journeyman level operation, maintenance, and repair experience in the HVAC trade.* Valid driver's license and able to operate a motor vehicle.* Universal EPA refrigeration certificate.* Able to read technical and architectural plans.* Able to work capably without supervision.* Able to complete required professional training including but not limited to ConfinedSpace, Fall Protection, CPR, Hot Work, and Lock Out Tag Out.* Proficient in Microsoft Office and CMMS application.*_Lifting Requirements: _**SEDENTARY *Lifting up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying small items (files, manuals, binders)*LIGHT *Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 10 pounds*MEDIUM *Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds*X HEAVY *Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 50 pounds*VERY HEAVY *Lifting objects more than 100 pounds with frequent lifting and or carrying objects weighing 50 pounds or more*_Physical Demands:*Not Required Occasional Frequent Constant Bending X ***_*Keying/Fingering X **Hearing X **Reaching X **Seeing X **Speaking X **Standing X **Walking X **_ *DEFINITIONS *__ _ NOT REQUIRED: May be a routine part of the job, but the essential functions can be performed without this activity. xijylhu OCCASIONAL: Activity is needed to perform the essential functions of the job at random intervals.FREQUENT: Activity is a usual and customary part of the essential functions of the job.CONSTANT: Activity is continually occurring and required to perform the essential functions of the job.*Employee Signature Date *Job Type: Full-timePay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hourBenefits:* Dental insurance* Health insurance* Life insurance* Paid time off* Retirement plan* Vision insuranceExperience:* HVAC: 2 years (Preferred)Work Location: In person
