The Driver,Trainee Component position learns the essential functions of theDriver job including the accurate and timely distribution ofproducts to various customer locations. The Driver Trainee gainsexposure to warehouse and other operational functions as part ofthe developmental process of becoming a McLane Driver.Benefits you can counton:PayRate: Drivers make $90,000 to $95,000 per year aftertraining.Pay Ratewhile in training: 21.00 anhour.PayStructure: Hours, Miles, Cases, andStops.Day 1 Benefits: medical,dental, and vision insurance, FSA/HSA and company-paid lifeinsurance.Paid holidays, earn vacation time,and sick leave accrual from day one.401(k)Profit Sharing Plan after 90 days.Additionalbenefits: pet insurance, maternity/paternity leave, employeeassistance programs, discount programs, tuition reimbursementprogram, andmore!Whatyou'll do as a Trainee Component Driver:Maneuver tractor intoposition to attach trailer and handle lines tosecure.Operates truck in a safe manner incompliance with all local, state, and federal regulations andcompany policies.Inspect tractor-trailerequipment for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT inspectionreport indicating condition.Operates DriverDelivery Handheld (DDH), document delivery receipts/producttemperatures and exceptions. Inspects trailer to ensure product issecure for undamaged transport ofproduct.Rides and trains with Driver Trainerof tractor-trailer to various destinations, gaining knowledge ofcommercial driving regulations and observing the Driver's skill instarting engine properly, approaching intersections, making turns,backing, parking, and maneuvering vehicle on the road and oncustomer premises.Maintain driver log (Manualor PeopleNet) according to DOT regulations, documenting deliveryreceipt, product temperatures andexceptions.Assists the Driver in unloadingtrailer and delivering product into customerpremises.Provides customer service includingon-time delivery of undamaged product, product returns and issuingvalid customer credits.Other duties asassigned.Qualifications you'llbring as a Trainee Component Driver Teammate:High School Diploma orGED preferred.Possess a Class ACDL.Be at least 21 years ofage.Meet eligibility requirements in theMcLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.Abilityand willingness to select/load/unload and/or deliver ALL productsthat may be ordered by McLane customers.Readand comprehend labels, instructions, and bills oflading.Perform mathematical calculations toverify quantities of product.Communicate withcustomers, management, and otherteammates.Safely drive a tractor-trailer, usea 2-wheeled dolly, ramp, and on board PeopleNet devices.This position requires the ability to read,write, and understand English at a level sufficient to performjob-related tasks effectively and safely. This includesunderstanding work instructions, safety protocols, andcommunications essential to the role.
