Regional Government & Public Affairs Manager (US East) Location: Hybrid (office-based with regional travel)Ready to apply Before you do, make sure to read all the details pertaining to this job in the description below. Travel: ~25% Full-time This role leads state-level government affairs and public policy strategy across the US East (Northeast and Mid-Atlantic). You'll shape advocacy efforts, manage external stakeholders, and influence legislation and regulation impacting the building materials and construction supply chain. It's a senior, hands-on role for a government affairs professional who can anticipate policy risk, build trusted relationships, and deliver outcomes that support operations, customers, and long-term growth. Lead state government affairs strategy across the US East, including legislative, regulatory, and political engagement plans Monitor and analyze state policy developments affecting construction and building materials markets (environmental regulation, permitting, procurement, transportation funding, product standards) State DOT leadership and policy teams Environmental and natural resource agencies (DEP/DEQ/DNR equivalents) Manage external lobbyists and consultants, including scope, performance, and budget oversight Represent the organization in trade associations, coalitions, and policy forums, ensuring measurable ROI Support state-level reputation management, community engagement, and local issue response Advise internal operations and commercial teams on political risk, permitting strategy, and government engagement Contribute to political engagement and PAC strategy in line with compliance requirements Partner cross-functionally with Communications, Environment & Public Affairs, Sales, Marketing, Legal, and Operations Promote health, safety, and environmental standards across all engagements Bachelor's degree required Fields: Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, Law, Economics, or related 7-10+ years in state government affairs, public policy, legislative/executive branch roles, or comparable advocacy work ~ Experience managing external lobbyists, consultants, and association relationships Building materials, manufacturing, infrastructure, construction, or industrial xijylhu sectors Environmental policy, permitting, and state DOT transportation funding programs Managing multi-state portfolios with fast-moving legislative timelines Strong political judgment and relationship-building ability Ability to translate complex policy into clear business impact Cross-functional collaboration with Legal, Operations, Sustainability, and Commercial teams Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Willingness to travel regularly across the region, including state capitols and operational sites You'll operate at the intersection of policy, operations, and growth , shaping outcomes that directly impact infrastructure, manufacturing, and supply chains.
