This role is ideal for a hands-on technician who can independently set up complex jobs, troubleshoot multi-axis issues, and support continuous improvement efforts on the shop floor.Shift Hours & Pay Details1st shift:6:00am to 2:30pm2nd Shift:2:00pm to 10:30pm; $0.50/hour shift differential3rd Shift:10:00pm to 6:30am; 10% shift differentialSign-On Bonus:$2,500 (paid per company policy)Location:Temporary: West Chicago, IL - 741 Winston St., West Chicago, ILPermanent: Northbrook, IL - 2501 Sanders Road, Northbrook, ILPlanned relocation: Summer 2026Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesIndependently set up HAAS 3-axis and 4-axis CNC milling machines, including rotary tables (A-axis), fixtures, tooling, and offsetsInstall, indicate, and align 4-axis rotary tables, tailstocks, and tombstones to ensure accurate centerline and perpendicularityLoad, verify, and edit CNC programs involving indexed and continuous 4-axis motionEstablish and verify work offsets (G54-G59), rotary offsets, and tool length offsets for multi-axis machiningPerform first-article inspections on multi-face parts and make real-time program and offset adjustmentsTroubleshoot complex 4-axis issues, including:Angular misalignmentRotary zero return errorsPositional repeatability issuesTool clearance and collision risksOptimize machining strategies to reduce multiple set-ups through effective 4-axis indexing and rotationCollaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on fixture design, tooling selection, and program improvementsSupport high-mix, low-volume production requiring frequent and complex changeoversTrain and support CNC Operators on safe operation and best practices for 4-axis machiningRequired Technical Experience5+ years of CNC machining experience with significant HAAS set-up responsibilityHands-on experience setting up and running 4-axis HAAS milling machines (required)Proven experience working with:HAAS rotary tables (TRT / HRT or equivalent)Tombstone and multi-face fixturingComplex part orientation and datum controlStrong ability to read and interpret:Complex blueprintsGD&T, including position, profile, concentricity, and runoutProficiency in G-code editing, including:A-axis rotary commandsTool plane and indexing logicProgram prove-out and safe start practicesSkilled in precision measurement and inspection methods for multi-axis componentsRequired Education/ DegreeAt HuFriedyGroup, we understand that valuable skills and experience come from all walks of life.
