ResponsibilitiesAll candidates should make sure to read the following job description and information carefully before applying.Provide care to general surgery and trauma patients at level 1 trauma hospitalProvide coverage to a 24 hour/7 day a week service lineObtain pertinent medical history and appropriate physical examsOrders and interprets pertinent lab and/or xray studies and conveys information to attending physiciansDocument all patient care within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and complete all necessary tasks in compliance with health system policies and regulatory agencies to ensure timely and accurate billingCounsels patients on pre and post-operative care, post-trauma care, recovery and expectationsRounding with residents/studentsOccasionally assist surgeons by providing first assistant surgical servicesAssists attending surgeons in hospital by making patient rounds, recording pertinent information in the patient?s medical recordPrescribes medications within scope of practice and Arizona lawPerforms bedside procedures within scope of practice and delineation of privilegesKeep medical knowledge and skills current through regular CME activityMaintain appropriate licensure required for role and active privileges at hospitalComplies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, supporting the health system?s corporate integrity efforts by acting in an ethical and appropriate mannerPerforms other duties as assignedQualificationsPA Requirements:Degree as a Physician Assistant (PA-C)Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant programMust hold and maintain: a.)
