Help us develop the next generation of technologies that give our warfighters the edge they deserve!*Responsibilities** Collaborate with team members and leaders to select appropriate design solutions or ensure the compatibility of system components.* Lead engineering teams on complex defense projects, including avionics and mission systems.* Establish robust, scalable software architectures fully compliant with security requirements.* Guide codebase structure, design patterns, coding standards, and DevOps best practices.* Perform code reviews, optimize performance and efficiency, and ensure quality.* Author and oversee testing plans, security evaluations, and other processes.* Mentor mid-level engineers and foster a positive team culture centered on innovation, tenacity, and trust.* Collaborate with team members and leaders to select appropriate design solutions or ensure the compatibility of system components.* Lead software teams on complex defense projects, including avionics and mission systems.* Provides technical leadership and mentoring for other engineers.* Has an expert-level understanding of code, systems architecture, and other technical domains.* Can autonomously architect complex, scalable software systems* Identifies technology risks and mitigation strategies.* Makes major design decisions for projects and products.* Communicates effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.* Able to break down complex problems into actionable tasks and plans.* Coaches and develops team members to improve skills and project delivery.*Qualifications ** Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of software engineering experience on defense or aerospace programs or master's degree and 10 years of software engineering experience on defense or aerospace programs* Must be able to manage one's own time and the ability to work alone or together in a team environment.* Must be a self-starter and able to break down large chunks of scope into workable tasks.* Expertise with languages such as C/C++, Java, Ada, Python, and real-time Operating Systems on embedded systems* Experience with embedded and safety-critical software standards (DO-178C)* Proficiency with continuous integration/deployment and version control* Strong analytical abilities and architectural design skills* Excellent team leadership, collaboration, and communication abilities* Experience with aircraft integration and flight testing.* Ability to obtain a TS/SCI and special access clearance. xijylhu * Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.*Position Specifics** Education: Bachelor's Degree* Experience: Defense Industry: 10 years (Preferred)* Security clearance: Top Secret / SCI (Preferred)* Travel: Up to 25% (Required)* Work Location: Hybrid (3-4 days in office Roanoke, TX)* Job Type: Full Time* Due to the nature of flight test operations and program/customer deadlines, extended hours beyond the standard 40-hr work week are commonJob Type: Full-timePay: $160,000.00 - $215,000.00 per yearBenefits:* 401(k)* 401(k) matching* Dental insurance* Dependent health insurance coverage* Disability insurance* Flexible schedule* Health insurance* Health savings account* Life insurance* Paid holidays* Paid sick time* Paid time off* Referral program* Relocation assistance* Vision insuranceWork Location: Hybrid remote in Roanoke, TX 76262
