Overview:Please make sure you read the following details carefully before making any applications.AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a 100% employee-owned federal government contractor, is seeking a Tier II Linux Systems Administrator to support a classified High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment in Arlington, VA.Are you an experienced Linux administrator with strong system fundamentals wanting to expand your skillset into HPC environments? If so, this role is for you! You will work alongside senior system administrators and engineers, receiving hands-on exposure to HPC platforms, distributed storage, and advanced computing technologies while supporting secure, production Linux systems.This position includes a $5,000 Sign-on Bonus on top of a comprehensive compensation package!Responsibilities:As a Tier II Linux Systems Administrator with AMERICAN SYSTEMS supporting HPC environments, you will have the opportunity to do the following:Provide Tier II Linux systems administration support for HPC users with professional, responsive customer serviceSupport day-to-day operations and maintenance of HPC compute, storage, and networking environmentsAssist senior system administrators in optimizing hardware and software performanceEnsure availability, integrity, and reliability of servers, workstations, and data storage systems, including Lustre and Bright ClusterAdminister and manage Linux user accounts, groups, and permissionsTriage Tier I/II service desk tickets and produce basic service metrics and reportsSupport installation, configuration, and testing of HPC system components, including compute servers, storage systems, networking equipment, and peripheralsAssist with Linux server configuration, backup operations, and security-related tasksPerform hardware replacements not covered by vendor maintenance agreementsAssist network personnel with equipment configuration, firewall support, and network security activitiesImplement program security requirements and comply with RMF controlsAdhere to all IT policies, processes, and proceduresManage changing priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment#hotjobsQualifications:Required QualificationsActive Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibilityU.S. citizenship requiredBachelor's degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent relevant experience5-7 years of Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems administration experience in production environmentsExperience providing Tier I or Tier II operational support, including troubleshooting and ticket triageTechnical RequirementsHands-on Linux administration experience, including user management, permissions, services, and system monitoringScripting experience using BASH or Python for system administration tasksExperience supporting VMware vSphere environmentsWorking knowledge of RMF and Linux system hardeningCertificationsCurrent DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent)Current RHCSA / RHCE certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hireBeneficial Experience / Qualifications:Exposure to high-performance computing, research, or lab-based environmentsFamiliarity with distributed storage or cluster management tools; Lustre or Bright Cluster experience is a plusExposure to automation, containerization, or orchestration tools such as Ansible, Docker/Podman, or KubernetesFamiliarity with databases such as PostgreSQLExperience supporting GPU-enabled systems or AI/ML toolsets (CUDA, TensorFlow)AMS1Pay Transparency Statement: AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. xijylhu The salary range for this position is USD $91,600.00/Yr. - USD $153,000.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
