Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) - Cross-Trained (Internal Medicine, Surgery & ER)Find out more about this role by reading the information below, then apply to be considered. $28-$33 per hour, dependent on experience and demonstrated technical proficiency.Position OverviewPacific Care Emergency & Specialty is seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our specialty and emergency team. This cross-trained position rotates between Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Emergency (ER) based on daily caseload and hospital needs.We are looking for a technician with anesthesia fluency, excellent venipuncture skills, and a strong overall technical skillset who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.Core ResponsibilitiesDeliver exceptional nursing care to hospitalized and outpatient casesPerform advanced venipuncture and catheter placement with precision and confidenceAdminister medications, IV fluids, CRIs, and blood products as prescribedAccurately monitor, document, and communicate patient statusMaintain detailed and compliant medical recordsSupport client education and discharge instructionsMaintain department organization, equipment readiness, and inventoryDepartment-Specific DutiesInternal MedicineAssist with advanced diagnostics (endoscopy, ultrasound, specialty procedures)Manage complex and chronic medical casesMonitor sedated patients during proceduresCollect and process laboratory samples accuratelySurgeryPrepare patients for surgery including pre-medication, induction, and intubationDemonstrate strong anesthesia fluency: calculate drug dosages, manage CRIs, adjust anesthetic depth, and troubleshoot complicationsProvide advanced anesthesia monitoring throughout proceduresMaintain sterile technique and assist surgeons intra-operativelyOversee smooth and safe anesthetic recoveryEmergency (ER)Perform triage and rapid patient assessmentProvide stabilization and critical care supportParticipate in CPR and emergency interventionsMonitor and manage critical hospitalized patientsRemain calm and efficient under pressureQualificationsActive California RVT license in good standing1-3+ years of ER or specialty experience preferredStrong anesthesia monitoring and drug calculation skillsExcellent venipuncture and IV catheter placement proficiencyHigh level of technical confidence and efficiencyAbility to prioritize and multitask in high-acuity settingsFlexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as neededIdeal Candidate TraitsAdaptable and team-orientedStrong critical thinking skillsDetail-oriented and organizedCalm under pressureCommitted to ongoing professional developmentIf you are a confident, technically strong RVT seeking a dynamic role in both specialty and emergency medicine, we encourage you to apply and grow with Irvine Pacific Care Emergency & Specialty.Benefits:Full-time benefits include health, dental, vision, disability and life insurances, flex-spending accounts, 401(k), Employee Assistance Program, 3 weeks accrued paid time off, and uniformsHighly competitive and comparable wages based on experience and skill set.Competitive Vet Assistant and RVT CE allowance annuallyVetBloom access: Race approved continuing education, training, and curriculum libraryLicense application and renewal reimbursement for RVT'sOpportunities for growth and advancement Ethos Veterinary Health is at the forefront of innovation and world-class medicine.
