Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.An opportunity is available for a dedicated 1:1 Registered Nurse to provide specialized pediatric nursing care in a school-based setting in Chicago, IL. This full-time, contract position supports a medically fragile K8 student by delivering comprehensive nursing care throughout the school day, including accompanying the student on the morning bus and assisting with classroom academics as needed.Key Responsibilities:Provide skilled pediatric ventilator care, including managing ventilator settings, suctioning, bagging procedures, and troubleshooting alarmsPerform tracheostomy care, including trach changes and managing Heat and Moisture Exchangers (HME)Oversee equipment connections and maintenance to ensure continuous supportManage emergency response protocols effectivelyAdminister gastrostomy tube feeding using enteral pumps, prepare feeds, and conduct water flushesAssist with student positioning, transfers, incontinence management, and skin checksSupport donning and doffing of Ankle-Foot Orthoses (AFOs)Participate in academic assistance within the classroom setting as necessaryQualifications:Active State-Issued Nursing LicenseProfessional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)Proven experience in pediatric ventilator and trach care in a non-clinical environmentStrong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with educational staffLocation:Positioned at an elementary school in the Chicago metropolitan areaThis role is ideal for a nurse passionate about pediatric care within an educational environment, offering a supportive community and the chance to make a meaningful impact on a students daily life.
