This individual is responsible for supporting the classroom teachers in implementing the daily program for children. The Intern is expected to encourage the social and emotional learning of children through engagement during group and individual learning experiences. The Intern reports to the Assistant Director with progress, updates, risks, and issues. This position is for college students pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or Child Development.Seasonal Assistants dates:College Students - May 13th to August 7th (Estimate)High School Students - June 15th to August 7th (Estimate)Hours: Monday - Friday; 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM (40 hours per week)Pay: In the range of $15 to $18 per hour, based on education and experienceLocation: Fully in-person at 1351 Oberlin Road, Middletown, PA?Responsibilities:Supporting the classroom teachers with the implementation of classroom lesson plans linked to child outcomes, program development, and classroom routines and schedulesParticipating in classroom coaching cyclesEngaging with children to support development and learningSupervising and providing a safe and nurturing environment for childrenRecognizing the needs of individual children and groupsProviding the appropriate social emotional and learning supportsProviding a safe and nurturing environmentAssisting children with self-helpRemaining compliant with all state licensing requirements as they pertain to health, safety, andprofessional requirementsActing as a role model for child developmentMaintaining confidentiality as it pertains to program, staff, and familiesQualifications:High School Diploma or GED requiredUp to 1 year experience working with children from birth - 5 yearsAbility to physically interact with children (e.g., talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, etc.) and lift and or move items of up to 40 poundsAbility to proactively identify problems and implement solutionsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment with changing prioritiesComfortability with technology including MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and /or willingness to learnResponsible, enthusiastic, and cares about working in a mission-focused organizationWillingness to be held accountable and receive feedbackCommitment to the mission and values of CHS and MHS and demonstrated high degree of integrity as all MHS and CHS staff are considered to be role models for childrenU.S. work authorization and successful completion of pre-employment background checks and clearancesWho we are and what were looking forAt CHS, we are leaders passionate about early childhood education and community betterment.
