Job DescriptionThe experience expected from applicants, as well as additional skills and qualifications needed for this job are listed below.The Division of Hematology & Oncology at the Medical University of South Carolina is actively recruiting a leader to direct the Sickle Cell Anemia program for the MUSC/State of South Carolina. We are seeking a clinical faculty member with a focus and special interest in the treatment of and research related to Sickle Cell Disease. Preference for a qualified candidate suited to join the department as an Associate Professor or Professor of Medicine based on candidate qualifications and approval by the College of Medicine Appointment Committee as well as the MUSC Board of Trustees.Required Qualifications:Candidates must be Board Certified in HematologyCandidates must be eligible for SC licensureA record of scholarship commensurate with appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor within the School of MedicineApproaching 5 years or more of Sickle-Cell program expertise/leadershipAdditional Qualifications:History of collaboration and teamwork within and across departments and programsTrack-record of institutional and community serviceOutstanding communication skillsDemonstrated career progression in preparation for a position of this scope, complexity, and scaleExperience with developing or administering budgetsPrior experience in directing and supporting research and educational programsWillingness to engage in philanthropic activitiesDemonstrated evidence of continuing professional self-development About our opportunity:Leading a clinical and research driven position for South Carolina - $2 million/year in State fundingImpact across South Carolina and beyond - this highly visible position will be elevating patient care across a broad regionRole will be split between administrative, clinical and research timeOpportunity to participate in teaching assignments and supervise/mentor trainees at all levelsState support includes: state program manager, community liaison, behavioral health PhD, social workers and pharmacistsClinical Support staff includes: nurses, APPs, clinical manager, clinic coordinator, in collaboration with wellness and mindfulness trainingWe will provide:Competitive salaryAdministrative supportResearch stipendRelocation assistanceExcellent benefits package, including pension options and up to $48,000 of optional tax deferred contributionsSovereign Immunity malpractice coverage22 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, and 13 paid holidaysPublic Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligibilityCME Allowance + time off MUSC's Division of Hematology & Oncology operates within the Hollings Cancer Center, the largest academic cancer center in South Carolina, and the state's only NCI designated Cancer Center.
