Job DescriptionWant to make an application Make sure your CV is up to date, then read the following job specs carefully before applying.Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital (HDVCH) and Michigan State University College of Human Medicine seek a full-time Pediatric andNewborn Hospitalist to join our team in a split position between Grand Rapids and Corewell West affiliated nurseries.Applicants should demonstrate a record of clinical excellence in Pediatric Hospital Medicine andNewborn Medicine, skill in delivery room management and neonatal resuscitation, and collaborative approach to working with the multidisciplinary team. This position will work out of Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids (BW), Corewell West Level 1 regional nurseries, and McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital (MGL) in Lansing; it is classified as an employed Corewell Health HDVCH employee.Position details:Manage acutely ill general pediatric patients of all ages admitted to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.Manage newborns in Level 1 and Level 2 nurseriesAttend all high-risk deliveries and lead delivery room resuscitation(Corewell regional nurseries and MCG)Stabilize infants requiring higher level of care and initiate transport to receiving teamComplete routine newborn procedures andpediatric procedures (circumcision, frenotomy, lumbar puncture)Facilitate resident and medical student education and collaborate with advanced practice providersCombination of 10-hr daytime shifts, overnight shifts (BW/HDVCH) and 24-hour restricted call (Regional Nurseries and MGL)Rotating weekend coverage (approximately 1 in 3)Collaborate on quality improvement, patient safety, and educational initiatives within the hospital systemAcademic appointment with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine; academic rank will be commensurate with experienceCandidates must be board-certified/board-eligible in Pediatrics. We will support successful candidates in obtaining circumcision credentialing and maintaining NRP certification.Basic Qualifications:Education - Medical Degree (MD or DO)Board-eligible/board-certified in Pediatrics required; BE/BC in Pediatric Hospital Medicine preferredCurrent M.D. or D.O. license for the state of MichiganCurrent State of Michigan and Federal Narcotics LicensesCertification NRP (resuscitation), BLS, PALSHelen DeVos Children's HospitalHDVCH is a 241-bed tertiary care referral center with approximately 11,000 pediatric admissions per year, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.?There are over 110,000 ambulatory visits, as well as over 55,000 children are seen in the Pediatric Emergency Department (Level 1 Trauma rated) each year.?We are home to a large pediatrics residency program and 7 pediatric fellowship programs. Our faculty are heavily involved with teaching medical students, residents, and fellows both at the bedside and in the classroom. On the same campus is Butterworth Hospital where approximately 8,000 babies are delivered annually, of which the majority are cared for by the newborn hospitalist team.Corewell West Regional NurseriesThe regional nursery program cares for well infants in our Level 1 nurseries located throughout the Corewell West region. Providers round on well infants, attend and stabilize high-risk deliveries, and facilitate transfer to higher levels of care when needed. The nurseries are supported by a centralized leadership structure, clinical standardization of care across all locations, and NICU via telephone support and transport team.McLaren Greater Lansing HospitalMcLaren Greater Lansing is a new hospital that opened in March 2022 on a new healthcare campus in Lansing, Michigan, on the southern edge of the Michigan State University campus.
