Job DescriptionApply now, read the job details by scrolling down Double check you have the necessary skills before sending an application.We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) with an interest in spine-focused orthopedics.   Duties will include a mixture of clinic, OR and call. Call may include overnight/onsite presence.RNFA is required for Nurse Practitioner applicants.Previous experience in orthopedics/spine is highly preferred.Job Summary: The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) functions collaboratively with physicians in the Orthopedic Practice. The APP autonomously performs patient assessments, diagnosis and implements an appropriate plan of care and performs orthopedic therapeutic procedures as defined by approved protocols. The APP prescribes a variety of treatment modalities to meet patient care needs in the defined patient population up to and including hospital admissions/discharges, clinic visits and prescriptive authority. The APP delivers competent and skilled care to patients and families according to their identified needs. Care is based on the nursing process and the medical plan of treatment. The APP will deliver care with a team orientation, an emphasis on good customer relations, sound clinical judgment and appropriate decision-making abilities that take into consideration evidenced based practice. Provides practice/clinic coverage for physician(s) during periods of absence. Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, up to and including hospital admission/discharge, assisting in surgery (if applicable) and prescriptive authority.Education & ExperienceAdvanced Practice Registered NursesMasters Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred. Physician AssistantsMasters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies and minimum 1 year of experience in related specialized area strongly preferred. Licensure, Registration, and/or CertificationAdvanced Practice Registered NursesCurrent Texas professional registered nurse licenseCurrent Texas professional advanced practice registered nurse licenseCertified as an RNFA preferred (Required if OR time is part of job)Certified as a Family or Pediatric Nurse PractitionerCurrent Basic Life Support (CPR) is required.Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required.Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required when assigned to Cardiology and Cardiothoracic SurgeryPediatric nurse practitioner acute care certification required when assigned to Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery and Pediatric Surgery/Trauma Physician AssistantsCurrent Texas professional physician assistant license.Certified as a PA-CCurrent Basic Life Support (CPR) required.Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required. xijylhu Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required when assigned to Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery Cook Children's is an EOE/AA, Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran employer.
