Job DescriptionReady to make your application Please do read through the description at least once before clicking on Apply.Residency Program Description:Loyola Medicine MacNeal Hospital is a 400-bed teaching community hospital in the western suburbs of Chicago, in the large community of Berwyn, Illinois. The internal medicine residency is a categorical program of 42 residents. A firm-based rotational structure is used, allowing 4-week inpatient rotations, followed by 2-week outpatient rotations which include an educational half-day each week. Outpatient rotations include most internal medicine subspecialties and ambulatory blocks, which promote experiences in fields important to primary care. Our residents also complete up to two electives over 3 years, in a university setting, usually at LUMC. The IM program director has 2 associate program directors and 5 core teaching faculty.Applicant Characteristics: (*denotes ACGME requirements)*Must be ABIM/AOBIM certified*Reports directly to the Program Director*Dedicate at least 4-8 hours per week to the administrative and educational aspects of the educational program*Must participate in academic societies and in educational programs designed to enhance their educational and administrative skillsTeaches residents in both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings and through faculty-led conferences as appointed by the program directorDisplay intellectual curiosity and scholarly pursuit specifically in learning about graduate medical education, via the attendance of GME conferences hosted by AAIM, ACGME, SGIM or ACP, and conduct faculty development sessions to share lessons learned.Evaluates and identifies program needs, and contributes to the strategic development of the residency programExpected to be here Monday to Friday 8-5Interpersonal & Communication SkillsCommunicate effectively with programmatic and institutional GMECommunicate with the Program Director regularly regarding the ambulatory aspects of residency program, support for the program and any potential issues Serve as career counselor, advisor, liaison, and advocate for residents.Clinical Responsibilities:3-4 half day Clinic resident-covered clinic per week, with the potential for increased numbers depending on faculty staffing18-20 weeks of inpatient clinical service, to include at least 10-12 weekends of inpatient serviceACGME definition of Faculty: Faculty members are a foundational element of graduate medical education faculty members teach residents how to care for patients.
