The ideal candidate will be BC/BE in Hospice/Palliative Medicine and have a passion for providing care that meets the patient's desires and goals for treatment and comfort in an inpatient setting. Hospital-based and outpatient opportunities available.QualificationsAbility to obtain an unrestricted Ohio Medical License and DEA licenseFellowship-trained/Board Certified or Eligible in Hospice and Palliative MedicineCommunication skills to lead family meetings, goals of care discussions and end-of-life discussions with cultural humilityComplete psychosocial and spiritual assessments in collaboration with the interdisciplinary teamManage pain and non-pain symptoms that accompany serious illnessProvide end-of-life care with an understanding of hospice eligibility criteria and the ability to appropriately refer patientsProvide a supportive team environment through expressed enthusiasm, approachability and respect for all patients and all members of the health care teamAbility to work within an interdisciplinary team and provide consultative care through: Openness to feedback from colleaguesPrior experience working with an interdisciplinary teamExperience precepting learners on palliative medicine topicsResponsibilitiesProvide care services to the patient and his/her family to identify, control or alleviate physical and emotional discomfort and other symptoms that often accompany a serious health conditionAbility to hold intensive meetings with family members ensuring that delivery of care is coordinated across the health care settingWork closely with other clinicians in a team approach to patient careBe engaging and approachable in a highly visible position that is always responsible for creating a positive impression with patients  administration and others that he/she encounters, both in person and on the phoneEnjoy teaching opportunities with resident physicians as well as medical studentsProvide support for all members of Administrative and Management TeamsEstablished in 1977, Hospice of Cincinnati is the fourth oldest hospice in the country, and the oldest hospice in the Cincinnati region.
