Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.Deliver expert critical care nursing in a dynamic, fast-paced step-down unit dedicated to patients recovering from severe medical events such as heart attacks, strokes, respiratory distress, and trauma. This contract role in Waukegan, IL, offers the opportunity to engage in advanced patient care, collaborate within an interdisciplinary critical care team, and support both patients and their families through challenging recoveries.Key Responsibilities:Assess patient conditions and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.Perform wound treatment and provide advanced life support interventions.Assist physicians with specialized medical procedures.Monitor and document vital signs accurately, adjusting medical equipment such as ventilators and IABP devices as necessary.Administer IV fluids and medications safely and efficiently.Perform suctioning and airway management.Respond promptly to life-saving situations using established nursing protocols.Advocate for patients while offering education and emotional support to families.Occasionally float to Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) units based on census needs.Qualifications and Desired Experience:Active Illinois RN or multi-state RN license (must be attached to your submission).Certified in ACLS and BLS through the American Heart Association (certifications must be attached).Proven vent/trach experience is required.Ability and willingness to float to LTAC units when necessary.Strong clinical knowledge in critical care and step-down nursing.Location Insights:The position is based in Waukegan, IL, a vibrant city situated on the western shore of Lake Michigan.
