Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.Critical Care RN Stepdown Unit | Contract | Des Plaines, ILA nursing position in a stepdown critical care setting offers the opportunity to provide specialized, high-level care to patients recovering from heart attacks, strokes, trauma, respiratory distress, and other serious medical conditions. This role involves comprehensive patient assessment, implementation of care plans, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.Responsibilities:Assess patient conditions and develop, implement, and adjust individualized care plansAdminister advanced treatments including intravenous medications, wound care, and advanced life support measuresMonitor and manage patients on ventilators, including adjustments of ventilator and IABP settingsAssist physicians with critical procedures and provide ongoing patient monitoringPerform suctioning and ensure proper functioning of medical equipment such as monitors and ventilatorsAccurately observe, record, and report patient vital signs and clinical changesAct as patient advocate, offering education and support to families for patient care and recoveryFloat to Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) units as needed based on unit censusQualifications & Experience:Current Illinois RN or multi-state RN license (required)Ventilator and tracheostomy care experience mandatoryACLS and BLS certifications from the American Heart Association (must attach with application)Experience in critical care nursing, preferably in stepdown or similar settingsAbility to work collaboratively within a critical care team and respond efficiently in life-saving situationsLocation:Des Plaines, IL, provides a vibrant suburban community with convenient access to major highways and Chicagos metropolitan amenities.
