Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.Deliver expert critical care nursing in a dynamic step-down unit environment, managing patients recovering from heart attacks, strokes, respiratory distress, and other acute medical conditions. This contract opportunity is based in Des Plaines, IL, offering the chance to apply advanced clinical skills and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.Key Responsibilities:Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plansMonitor and record vital signs; adjust ventilators, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), and other advanced medical equipmentAdminister intravenous fluids and medications; perform suctioning as neededSupport physicians during procedures and assist in life-saving interventions following established nursing protocolsProvide education and emotional support to patients and their families, acting as a patient advocateFloat between step-down and long-term acute care (LTAC) units as census dictatesParticipate in quality improvement, case management, and administrative responsibilities as assignedQualifications and Desired Experience:Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license or multi-state RN licenseVentilator and tracheostomy care experience requiredACLS and BLS certifications obtained through the American Heart AssociationPrevious experience in critical care or step-down environments strongly preferredFlexibility to float to LTAC units when necessaryLocation Overview:Des Plaines, IL, offers a welcoming suburban setting with convenient access to Chicagos cultural attractions and healthcare facilities.
