Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.An opportunity is available for a skilled RN with experience in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) nursing to support surgical procedures in a dynamic hospital setting in Durham, NC. This contract position demands precision, technical expertise, and the ability to maintain an aseptic environment while providing crucial intraoperative assistance.Key Responsibilities:Execute specialized duties across all operating room specialties, adhering to established standards and protocols.Handle and maintain surgical instrumentation with proper sterilization and aseptic techniques.Identify and correct any breaches in sterile practice proactively.Conduct surgical counts and manage discrepancies according to protocol.Establish and maintain sterile fields independently during procedures.Label medications and solutions, monitoring their use throughout operations.Assist in preparation, handling, and labeling of surgical specimens.Organize instruments, supplies, and drapes to ensure optimal accessibility and efficiency for the surgical team.Provide direct assistance to surgeons, demonstrating knowledge of anatomy and procedure-specific considerations.Support patient positioning and preparation in collaboration with the surgical team.Review surgeon preference lists and ensure proper case setup and instrument availability.Respond effectively to surgical emergencies and participate in hospital emergency plans.Maintain surgical supply inventory and report defective instruments or equipment.Mentor new team members and support ongoing peer training and evaluation.Collaborate with registered nurses during the intraoperative phase of care.Operate and troubleshoot complex operating room equipment.Perform routine cleaning and stocking of emergency carts and procedure trays.Desired Qualifications:Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with experience in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) nursing.Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and surgical instrumentation.Ability to work independently and as an integral member of the surgical team.Excellent organizational and communication skills.Prior experience mentoring or training clinical staff is a plus.Location Overview:Durham, NC, offers a vibrant community enriched by a blend of educational institutions, healthcare excellence, and cultural diversity.
