Assistant Department Manager - Transmission Bloomington, MN | Full-Time | Engineering / UtilitiesIf you would like to know a bit more about this opportunity, or are considering applying, then please read the following job information.We are seeking a motivated Assistant Department Manager - Transmission to help lead and grow a dynamic engineering team supporting transmission projects. This role blends technical expertise, leadership, and operational management to help drive team performance, client success, and continuous improvement.The ideal candidate is passionate about mentoring engineers, improving processes, and supporting business growth while fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team DevelopmentAdvocate for and promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and inclusionRecruit, develop, train, and retain interns and engineering staffMentor engineers and coordinate assignments in collaboration with the Transmission Department Manager and project leadershipConduct employee performance reviews, development meetings, and coaching sessionsIdentify training needs and support the development of department training programsFoster a healthy employee-owner culture through team-building, collaboration, and effective conflict resolutionOperational & Business SupportCoordinate engineering staff assignments to ensure efficient and cost-effective utilization of resourcesApprove timecards and ensure team members meet billable utilization goalsProvide input to improve productivity, budgets, and project qualityInterpret organizational policies, goals, and strategies to the teamSupport business initiatives aimed at improving department efficiency and profitabilityClient & Project SupportAssist with client relationship development and retentionContribute to proposal development and reviewCollaborate across departments to enhance training and project deliveryEncourage innovation through tools, technology, and process improvementsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related field5+ years of related professional experienceStrong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skillsAbility to anticipate challenges and develop practical solutionsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively and support team developmentPreferred QualificationsProfessional Engineering (PE) license xijylhu Experience with recruiting and mentoring engineersExperience delivering and receiving performance feedbackAbility to present complex information to technical and non-technical audiencesExperience with data tracking and productivity tools (Pivot Tables, Data Models, Office 365 applications, etc.)Proven ability to lead change and influence teams positivelyHistory of strong performance demonstrated through professional evaluationsWhy Join Us?Opportunity to lead and develop engineering talentCollaborative and innovative work environmentMeaningful work supporting critical transmission infrastructureLong-term career growth within a stable and respected engineering organizationIf Interested, apply here or message me directly.
