Estimator - Tollway / Heavy Civil ConstructionPlease double check you have the right level of experience and qualifications by reading the full overview of this opportunity below.Position Summary: The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for tollway and heavy civil construction projects. This role involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop detailed bids, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and company objectives.Key Responsibilities:Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents for tollway and roadway construction projectsPerform quantity takeoffs and detailed cost analysis for labor, materials, and equipmentSolicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bidsPrepare comprehensive estimates, budgets, and bid proposalsIdentify project risks and develop mitigation strategies within estimatesCollaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to validate scope and pricingAttend pre-bid meetings and site visits as requiredMaintain up-to-date knowledge of market pricing, labor rates, and material costsSupport value engineering efforts to optimize project costsAssist with bid submissions and post-bid reviewsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred)3-7+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil, roadway, or tollway constructionStrong understanding of DOT/IDOT and tollway project requirementsProficiency xijylhu in estimating software (e.g., HCSS, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar)Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specificationsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and organizational abilitiesPreferred Experience:Experience with tollway, highway, or large infrastructure projectsFamiliarity with union labor environmentsKnowledge of local subcontractor and supplier markets
