Ballard Construction Company, a leading General Contractor/Construction Manager servicing the Mid-Atlantic region, headquartered in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team in Virginia Beach.Make sure to apply quickly in order to maximise your chances of being considered for an interview Read the complete job description below.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirementsPerform accurate quantity takeoffs from plans and specificationsPrepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractorsDevelop conceptual, preliminary, and final estimates during design developmentIdentify cost-saving alternatives and value engineering optionsAssemble complete bid proposals and pricing summariesSolicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier bidsCollaborate and reconcile scopes with other members of the estimating teamEnsure bids comply with project requirements, scope, and deadlinesParticipate in bid reviews and clarificationsIdentify potential risks, constructability issues, and scope gapsPrepare reports for management and clientsCompare estimated vs. actual costs for continuous improvementSupport negotiations during contract awardAssist with client presentation preparationQualifications and Experience:Proven experience and knowledge of construction estimating, means and methods, accounting, and document administrationThorough understanding of construction industry materials and practices.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills requiredProficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly ExcelExperience with On Screen Take-off (OST)Experience with BluebeamLEED certification is preferred but not requiredDBIA certification is preferred but not requiredSome periodic travel may be requiredCurrent focus on eligible candidates residing within commuting distance of our Virginia Beach office.The summary of essential duties and responsibilities listed above is not intended to cover all possible job duties and is subject to change at our discretion.
