About the JobRedwood Electric Group is seeking an Electrical Designer to support the development and coordination of electrical systems for a variety of commercial construction projects. Our success is rooted in our commitment to customer satisfaction, innovation, and a team dedicated to exceeding expectations.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and refine electrical system layouts, schematics, and design documentation.Prepare and modify drawings using AutoCAD and Revit while maintaining accuracy and clarity in project documentation.Review and process equipment and system submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications and design intent.Perform electrical calculations including load calculations, lighting level analysis, and energy efficiency assessments.Conduct power system analysis such as short circuit, voltage drop, and arc flash studies.Support equipment selection, panel schedules, and system coordination.Ensure all designs comply with NEC, applicable energy codes, and project requirements.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and multidisciplinary design teams to integrate electrical systems into overall project plans.Participate in coordination meetings with clients, architects, contractors, and consultants.Conduct site visits to review existing electrical conditions and support field installation efforts.Provide engineering support during construction to assist with RFIs, design clarifications, and coordination.Support the continuous improvement of internal design processes and standards.Required Skills and AbilitiesStrong understanding of electrical engineering principles including power distribution and lighting systems.Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical engineering analysis software.Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and applicable industry standards.Ability to review and interpret electrical specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.Strong problem solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical design or engineering within the construction industry.Engineer In Training certification preferred with encouragement to pursue Professional Engineer licensure.Experience with commercial, high rise residential, healthcare, life science, or data center projects is preferred.LEED AP certification is a plus.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Working ConditionsThis position is based in our Santa Clara office and is not eligible for remote work.Office work includes sitting, typing, and using a computer for extended periods.REG will provide reasonable accommodations as required by the ADA and applicable state law.DisclaimerThe duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the work typically performed in this role, but are not intended to be a comprehensive list.
