DescriptionThe NYSTEC Don Hanson Internship Program offers students the opportunity to work alongside NYSTEC professionals to apply academic knowledge in a real-world consulting environment. Interns gain hands-on experience while developing critical business and professional skills that support our clients, partners, andorganization.Not sure what skills you will need for this opportunity Simply read the full description below to get a complete picture of candidate requirements.With guidance from an assigned mentor, interns build competencies in:Business knowledge and developmentNYSTEC tools and methodologiesPartnering and networkingManaging successful outcomesFacilitating presentationsQuality and risk managementAnalytical thinking, leadership, ethics, and professionalismInternshipExperience - Medicaid Account Management InternAs an intern in the Quality Systems Transformation practice area, you will support a key Medicaid-focused initiative by assisting with coordinating the project and by creating clear, concise policy briefs, summaries, and one-pagers based on healthcare policy updates and industry conferences attended by NYSTEC leaders. This role offers valuable exposure to healthcare policy, research, and professional communication in a collaborative consulting environment.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with coordinating the project and tracking deliverablesAssist with planning and implementing strategyPrepare reports and presentations for leadershipHelp track budgets and contract updatesDraft policy briefs, summaries, and one-pagersSummarize key insights from Medicaid conferences and eventsParticipate in internal meetings and project planningLearn and apply NYSTEC tools and processes while collaborating with internal and external partnersRequired QualificationsExcellent writing and communication skillsResearch and analytical abilitiesExperience coordinating projectsInterest or background in healthcare or public policyProficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Experience in healthcare, government, or policy settingsResearch writing and information synthesis skillsBasic graphic design/data visualization skills (Canva, PowerPoint)Education and ExperienceThis program seeks graduate level students with strong leadership potential. We look for diverse educational and professional experience.Must be enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program with concentrations in public health, public policy, public administration, or related fieldThe NYSTEC Don Hanson Internship Program for summer 2026 will run from May 18 - August 7. The typical schedule will be during normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Specific hours can be negotiated based on the intern's availability.
