Our team is committed to delivering exceptional service while embracing challenges and recognizing hard work, attention to detail, and professionalism.This position will be based in one of our Springfield facilities.Benefits:MedicalDentalVision401(k)Life InsurancePTOCompensation:$26 - $40 hourly DOEResponsibilities:Diagnose and resolve issues with existing HVAC systems and equipmentPerform routine maintenance to ensure safe and efficient system operationAdhere to all company policies and industry safety standardsCarry out preventive maintenance, repairs, and system calibrations on-siteApply technical knowledge and experience to determine service needsMaintain inventory of necessary tools, parts, and materialsIdentify and troubleshoot problems within current HVAC systemsEnsure systems operate at peak performance through regular inspectionsRespond promptly and effectively to emergency repair situationsLeverage expertise in system operations and maintenance to support service decisionsThis position is safety sensitiveCross-Role ExpectationsExperience working in an industrial or manufacturing environmentStrong troubleshooting abilities with a focus on long-term solutionsAbility to operate within a dispatcher-led, priority-based workflowComfortable managing work orders, documentation, and shift transitionsCommitment to safety practices (LOTO, hot work, confined space as applicable)Collaborative mindset when working with Operations, Engineering, and Reliability teamsQualifications:5+ years of industrial HVAC experience (manufacturing or heavy commercial preferred)Proficient in troubleshooting rooftop units, makeup air units, and exhaust systemsWorking knowledge of chilled water and hot water systems (basic to intermediate)Familiarity with air dryers and compressed air systemsEPA 608 Certification (Universal preferred)Ability to diagnose airflow issues, temperature imbalances, and humidity concernsComfortable working at heights using lifts and man-liftsPreferred Skills:Basic understanding of controls and building automation systems (BAS)Experience with VFDs, including interaction and diagnosticsBackground in high-heat industrial manufacturing environmentsExperience performing preventive maintenance programsAbout CompanySMSI is dedicated to providing the highest quality mechanical services performed in an honest, dependable, and efficient manner.
