And that's where you come in.Please read the information in this job post thoroughly to understand exactly what is expected of potential candidates.Soaren is adding a Senior Data Scientist to our Fintech start-up, which is stable, profitable, and rapidly growing. We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist with deep technical and statistical knowledge and a proven track record to drive business value using advanced data analysis and machine learning techniques. This position will collaborate with executives and other business departments to contribute to initiatives that assure portfolio growth and performance, adapt to changing market conditions, and identify fraudulent activity. The Senior Data Scientist reports directly to the Head of Data Science.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze complex data sets to reduce costs and improve customer experience.Create systems for gathering, extracting, preparing data from multiple sources.Evaluate call center services and consumer experiences with measurable data points.Develop, deploy, and maintain machine learning models for credit scoring and optimization of operations. Take ownership of the ML process from development through production.Identify opportunities to leverage machine learning insights across the business.Given a business problem, identify related data sources, construct a process and create a model that solves the problem.Observe and maintain model governance and compliance standards across all production applications.Understand operational key performance indicators, report trends and patterns.Communicate machine learning insights to business stakeholders.Collaborate across Operations, Compliance, IT, Finance, or other departments.Develop relationships with external vendors and evaluate data studies of vendor products.Mentor junior team members and share knowledge with others in the department.Follow all company policy and procedures.Display leadership through punctuality and professionalism while performing required duties.Other related duties as assigned.QualificationsAdvanced degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field.3+ years of proven experience building and deploying statistical and machine learning models.3+ years of experience using Python to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.Deep experience and knowledge of tree-based and boosting algorithms (eg, XGBoost, LGBM) is required.Demonstrated experience with cloud data platforms and contemporary model and data pipeline technology.Strong SQL and data-wrangling skills - experience specifying and completing analyses from scratch.Familiarity with MLOps technologies and the machine learning life cycle.Experience with model deployment and API maintenance using Python and Flask.Experience with version control software and methodologies.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Experience working in a startup environment and/or consumer lending a plus.Must meet requirements of company background check policy requirements.Success MeasuresAbility and willingness to self-start and self-manage in a high volume, data-driven environment.Ability to enhance portfolio outcomes through analytics and operational acumen.Ability to scope, lead, manage, and execute assigned projects with effective data visualization.Achieve goals while promoting a positive attitude true to our mission and core values.Compensation and Benefits:Highly competitive salaryRemote-work capabilitiesPerformance based rewardsUnlimited vacation timeDog-friendly officeCasual work environmentA small executive team with promotion opportunitiesCompany sponsored medical/dental/vision/life insurance/AD&D401k with generous company matchingPaid parental leaveExcellent work-life balanceBeautiful office with huge breakrooms, snacks, and activitiesOur Company Mission:Soaren merges time-tested business practices with bleeding-edge proprietary technologies to deliver reliable, efficient and secure financial products and services.
