The Health IT Manager is responsible for overseeing all information technology systems supporting the Tribe's healthcare operations. This includes the Suquamish Wellness Center, Healing House Primary Care, Community Health, Health Benefits, Kitsap OBGYN, and the new Suquamish CARE Center, which will host medication-assisted treatment, dentistry, childcare, psychiatry, counseling, pharmacy, wellness, and primary care services.If you would like to know a bit more about this opportunity, or are considering applying, then please read the following job information.The Health IT Manager will participate in the planning and execution of the new medical building project, as well as any future healthcare initiatives. This includes working closely with vendors, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure that all IT infrastructure, systems, and operational needs are identified, planned for, and successfully delivered.The Health IT Manager ensures secure, reliable, and compliant technology operations across all medical services, supporting high-quality patient care and smooth clinical workflows. This role oversees network infrastructure, helpdesk services, cybersecurity, surveillance systems, EMR and healthcare software, as well as training and supervision of IT staff dedicated to healthcare operations.Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee planning, deployment, and maintenance of IT systems across all Tribal healthcare facilities.* Participate in project planning and execution for the new medical building and other healthcare expansions, working collaboratively with vendors, project managers, and Tribal leadership to ensure all IT requirements are met.* Ensure secure, compliant, and reliable operations of EMR/EHR systems, pharmacy software, lab interfaces, and other healthcare applications.* Collaborate closely with clinical leadership in medication-assisted treatment, dentistry, childcare, psychiatry, counseling, pharmacy, wellness, and primary care to understand technology needs and ensure seamless support.* Manage networking, servers, storage, and connectivity for healthcare operations, maintaining high availability and performance.* Lead cybersecurity initiatives for healthcare systems, ensuring patient data security and compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.* Oversee the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of security and surveillance systems within healthcare facilities.* Direct and support the healthcare IT helpdesk team, ensuring prompt, effective resolution of user issues.* Supervise and mentor IT staff assigned to healthcare operations, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.* Manage vendor relationships for healthcare IT systems, contracts, and licensing.* Develop and maintain IT budgets for healthcare operations in coordination with the IT Director and Health Services leadership.* Lead or support projects involving new facility builds, EMR transitions, system upgrades, and service expansions.* Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery plans are in place for all healthcare IT systems.* Facilitate medical reporting to meet department needs and funding compliance.* Serve as primary point of contact for audits, inspections, and compliance reviews related to healthcare IT.* Promote excellent customer service and effective communication across all levels of the Tribal government and healthcare staff.* Stay informed about emerging IT technologies and best practices to enhance departmental performance.* Develop internal reports and documentation on IT department performance, projects, and initiatives.* Ensure adherence to tribal cultural values and practices within the IT department.* Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:* Operational Expertise: Proficiency in developing and managing IT systems, processes, and workflows.* Leadership: Strong ability to supervise and motivate a team, fostering a collaborative work environment.* Problem-Solving: Skilled in identifying inefficiencies and implementing effective solutions.* Strategic Thinking: Ability to align IT department operations with Tribal Government and Health Division goals and initiatives.* Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical users.* Customer Service: Strong customer service orientation, with a focus on user satisfaction and service excellence.* Project Management: Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.* Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.* Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding of and respect for tribal culture and traditions, with the ability to work effectively in a tribal government setting.* Maintain Confidentiality: Understanding of and respect for handling confidential, sensitive, or otherwise proprietary information including PHI, etc.Supervisory Responsibilities:Under the supervision of the IT Director, will directly supervise the Health IT Team, ensuring effective management of projects and team performance.Collaboration: Work closely with the IT team and other departments to ensure cohesive and integrated cybersecurity measures and support.Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred; and at least 4 years of direct Healthcare IT experience supporting clinical operations.* Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA and other healthcare regulatory requirements.* Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems, clinical software, and healthcare IT workflows.* Strong knowledge of networking, servers, and general IT infrastructure.* Experience managing helpdesk operations in a clinical environment.* Familiarity with security and surveillance systems.* Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.* Ability to pass background checks required for healthcare facility access and handling of patient data.Technical Skills: Proficiency in EHR Systems, IT infrastructure management, internal process optimization, and project planning tools.Clearance: Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.Interpersonal contacts: Extensive contact and communication with the Executive Director, Health Division departments, and Suquamish Tribal Government staff, and Community. Position may require coordination and communication with other Tribal, state, and federal programs for the purposes of comprehensive health care initiatives aligned with the Suquamish Tribes vision, mission, and strategic plan.Job Conditions:The work environment may be located in a clinical setting. It would involve everyday risks or discomforts, which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meetings, and training rooms. Must be able to solve problems creatively and effectively in a fast-paced work setting. The office setting has appropriate lighting and heat, adequate ventilation, and equipment necessary to the position.
