Please refer to Recruitment Process Step 3 for tentative dates, locations, and possible skills **Position SummaryThis Street Maintenance Crew Leader leads and directs crews in the preparation for paving and the repair of roadway surfaces.  They will direct and train a diverse work force in the safe and efficient work methods of roadwork, including proper equipment operation.  They will inspect streets and determine the appropriate work zone traffic control.  They will be directly responsible for durable and effective repairs and maintenance of the City streets.  The work will conform to City standards and follow industry best practices.  The Street Maintenance Crew Leader will operate rollers, self-propelled paving machines and other equipment.  They will be responsible for keeping work records, handling on-site public relations, and producing various reports. Important HighlightsThis position is considered an essential position during inclement weather, natural disasters, and other emergenciesThis position is a member of PBOT's 24 Hour Response TeamMay require after-hour, evening, weekend, and holiday responseDuring an emergency, this position is expected to report to work as soon as possible to help ensure the essential operations of the City's transportation infrastructureWhat you'll get to do: Direct crews on the Street Maintenance TeamDirect and train diverse work crews in safe and efficient work methods and proper paving machinery equipment operation (i.e. pavers, rollers, and street milling)Inspect City assets to determine extent of work requiredMaintenance and cleaning or repair of City owned assetsKeep records of accomplishments and create maintenance reportsHandle on-site public relationsAn Ideal Candidate will have a strong commitment to promoting equity and diversity in the workplace.
