Role SummaryHit Apply below to send your application for consideration Ensure that your CV is up to date, and that you have read the job specs first.We are hiring a Healthcare IT Engineer to help design and build an AI-enabled specialty healthcare hub that works alongside existing EMR/EHR systems rather than replacing them.This role is ideal for an application developer or integration engineer with healthcare experience, strong API skills, and an understanding of clinical, scheduling, insurance, and medication-related workflows. The goal is to create a connected platform that supports specialty practices through AI-assisted scheduling, prior authorization automation, payer workflow support, and medication decision-support tools.The candidate should be comfortable working with healthcare systems such as Epic, OmniMD, practice management platforms, payer portals, clearinghouses, pharmacy systems, and other healthcare applications.Key Responsibilities* Design, develop, and support healthcare applications for specialty practice operations.* Build API integrations with EMR/EHR, practice management, payer, pharmacy, and scheduling systems.* Develop application workflows for:* patient scheduling,* insurance verification,* prior authorization,* referral management,* medication review support,* care-team task management.* Work with healthcare interoperability standards and concepts such as FHIR, HL7, REST APIs, OAuth, and SMART-on-FHIR.* Help build AI-assisted agents for scheduling, documentation review, authorization routing, and medication intelligence.* Design secure application architecture with role-based access, audit logging, encryption, and HIPAA-conscious data handling.* Collaborate with clinical, administrative, billing, and technical teams to translate healthcare workflow problems into software solutions.* Build dashboards, task queues, reporting tools, and workflow automation features.* Ensure the platform supports existing healthcare systems rather than functioning as a standalone EMR or EHR.* Maintain human-in-the-loop review for clinical and medication-related recommendations.Required Qualifications* Experience as an IT Engineer, Application Developer, API Integration Engineer, Healthcare Systems Engineer, or similar role.* Hands-on experience developing or supporting healthcare applications.* Strong experience with REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, authentication, and third-party system integrations.* Working knowledge of healthcare workflows such as scheduling, prior authorization, insurance verification, billing, referrals, or medication management.* Familiarity with EMR/EHR ecosystems such as Epic, OmniMD, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, or similar platforms.* Understanding of healthcare interoperability concepts, including FHIR, HL7, and SMART-on-FHIR.* Experience with backend development using tools such as Python, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, or similar technologies.* Ability to work with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or MongoDB.* Understanding of HIPAA-conscious application design, access control, and secure data handling.* Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical healthcare stakeholders.Preferred Qualifications* Experience integrating with Epic APIs, Epic on FHIR, OmniMD, or other healthcare application ecosystems.* Experience building healthcare workflow automation tools.* Experience with AI agents, machine learning workflows, NLP, document classification, or healthcare automation.* Prior work with payer systems, clearinghouses, prior authorization platforms, or revenue cycle workflows.* Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.* Experience developing dashboards, admin portals, task management tools, or workflow engines.* Knowledge of specialty care operations, specialty pharmacy, infusion, behavioral health, cardiology, dermatology, orthopedics, oncology, or other specialty practice environments. xijylhu * Familiarity with clinical decision-support safeguards and human-in-the-loop review processes.Job Types: Full-time, ContractPay: From $4,000.00 per monthWork Location: Hybrid remote in New York, NY 10012
