Job Description

Welder M-F 6am-4pm 1st Shift, plus OT$20-24 per hour, based on ExperienceJob SummarySkilled in layout, fitting, MIG welding of all parts on the 3-inch side. May be cross trained and assigned on machines and equipment outside of department. Essential Functions  Able to weld all parts without positioner. Perform MIG welding techniques. Has basic understanding and ability to read and interpret blueprints, including dimensions, to plan layout and procedures. Set welding machine according to materials to be welded or supplied WPS parameters. Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded. Interpret weld symbols and place welds in the correct place. Use a variety of fixtures to make accurate products repeatedly. Able to manage, operate, and maintain equipment and tools including: Mig Gun, wire, wire feeder, grounds, and gases without any other assistance. Perform quality checks using measurement tools, including using gauges to check size of welds. Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions. Set-up and arrange work area as suited for most efficient production runs. Maintain production levels necessary to maintain supply and demand. Regularly inspect in-process and finished parts to ensure quality and for defective welds according to work instructions and procedures. Perform required part clean up including grinding or other finishing operations as specified by work order. Log job information into computer. Wear proper personal protective equipment and adhere to all department safety policies and procedures Understands and follows ISO procedures Understands how to read job documents and follow the shop work flow. Always follow safe lifting practices, including requirements for two-person lift, and/or lifting equipment. This position may perform other production activities including but not limited to supporting the production team by assembling parts, operating machinery, and fabrication of products, as well as cleaning and maintaining equipment and the shop floor.Qualifications  Obtained or working to obtain welding (AWS) certification. Successfully completed all training of Level 1. 1+ years of MIG Welding experience in a shop or school setting. Knowledgeable of raw materials used (material grade, thickness, etc.) Ability to read blue prints. Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions. Basic troubleshooting of machine errors.   Proven measurement and mathematical fractional/decimal conversion skills. Able to distinguish material types including aluminum, steel, and stainless steel. Able to use measuring tools including but not limited to calipers, tape measure, & protractors. Basic understanding of welding fundamentals including MIG and spot welding.Physical requirements  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time.
