You will lead bid strategy, collaborate across departments, and help drive competitive pricing and project win rates.Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates from conceptual design through GMP or lump sum proposalsAnalyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and scope narrativesCoordinate and communicate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams during bidding and preconstruction phasesParticipate in pre-bid meetings, job walks, and subcontractor outreach efforts to build strong relationshipsManage bid day activities including scope reviews, bid evaluations, and proposal formattingPrepare and update project budgets, schedules, general conditions, and pricing narrativesSupport project teams post-award to ensure accurate turnover of estimate detailsContribute to continuous improvement of estimating tools, templates, and processesStay informed on construction costs, industry trends, and labor/material market conditionsMaintain and strengthen client and subcontractor relationships across the Richmond regionProfileBachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field7-15 years of estimating experience; senior-level preferred, but strong mid-level candidates will be consideredExperience estimating multifamily and/or commercial base building projects; multifamily preferredProject experience with budgets between $30M and $200M+Strong professional network in the Richmond construction marketProficiency in: Microsoft Excel (budgeting, formulas, formatting)Bluebeam, MS Office, Outlook, TeamsProcore or similar bid/construction management softwareOnScreen Takeoff, InSite, Phoenix Project Management or similar toolsKnowledge of construction scheduling, contract law, and project delivery methodsStrong communication, time management, and attention to detailProven tenure and stability with current and past employersJob OfferOwnership Culture: As a 100% employee-owned company, all eligible employees gain ownership in the business at no cost.Reputation for Excellence: Work for an award-winning general contractor recognized for its quality, innovation, and employee satisfaction.Generous Benefits Package: Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance15 Days PTO to start (increases with tenure), 10 sick days, and company holidaysESOP Program: Annual deposits equal to approximately 10% of gross compensationProfit Sharing: Average 7.5-8% of compensation, based on company performance401(k): 100% match up to 4%Tuition Reimbursement: Up to 100% for qualifying gradesBonus Structure: Project-based bonuses for high performers - top estimators have earned over $150k in annual bonusesMPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
