WEC Business Services LLC We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Electrician (South) in our West Allis, Substation location. Job Summary The Electrician (South) is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and operating all electrical equipment, both AC and DC, transmission and distribution and telecommunications equipment, located in substations, power plants, and company-owned buildings, as well as customer-owned buildings and substations. Includes limited operation and switching in all locations. Job Responsibilities The following are the principle duties of the Electrician (South) position: Construct, install, inspect, repair and operate electrical equipment located in substations, power plants, steam tunnels, vaults, telecommunications buildings, as well as company and customer facilities Work on AC/DC control systems as well as hi-voltage transmission and distribution equipment Perform limited electrical operation and switching Perform other specialized and miscellaneous duties as required or assigned Minimum Experience Required Applicant must meet one of the following requirements: Be a current State Licensed Journeyman Electrician. Have a minimum of two years' experience as a max rated Electrician/Plant Electrician/Substation Electrician occupation within the last 10 years. Have an Associate's Degree in an Electrical field such as Utilities Engineering Technology, Substation Tech or equivalent military training. Have successfully completed 2 years of electrical engineering coursework at an accredited post-secondary school. Technical diploma in an Electrical Power Distribution or equivalent. Testing requirements Electrical Aptitude Test (EAPT): A test to measure aptitude in mathematics, electrical concepts, process flow, signal flow, and electrical schematics & sequences. Suggested Preparation: Review of basic electrical concepts such as current flow, basic schematic drawings and diagrams, and electrical connections. Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST)-Electrician level: Comprehension of pictured mechanical principles such as gears, levers, pulley systems, water flow, etc.; arithmetic skills in calculating distances shown in prints and drawings; and the ability to read and understand written material. Suggested Preparation: Review of basic arithmetic skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals, fractions, etc; review basic mechanical principals.
