Ready to make a meaningful impact by guiding an organization's financial strategy?Nevada Legal Services (NLS) is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead all financial operations across our statewide organization. This role is pivotal in supporting our mission to provide free legal help to low-income Nevadans. You'll be a trusted advisor to the Executive Director and the Board, shaping the financial direction of NLS while ensuring fiscal responsibility and compliance.Key Responsibilities:Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecastsPrepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reportsEnsure compliance with GAAP and all relevant federal and state regulationsOversee internal audits, payroll, banking, and investmentsSupport fundraising and grant reporting with clear financial planningSupervise finance staff including Assistant Comptroller and Accounts PayableMaintain and improve financial systems, insurance coverage, and benefit plansTrain staff on financial procedures, including trust and litigation accountsThe CompanyThe mission of Nevada Legal Services is to strengthen the community by ensuring fairness and providing equal access to justice for low-income Nevadans. NLS receives the Legal Services Corporation funding for the state of Nevada. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices, as well as an in-depth knowledge of nonprofit accounting, budgeting, and financial planning.Familiar with appropriate accounting and financial software. Comfortable making professional presentations to the Board of Directors, outside agencies, and program staff. Able to attend meetings and/or other functions at various locations throughout the service area. Occasional out-of-area travel and overnight stays may be required.
