We are seeking a Die Maker to join our team. The Die Maker is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing dies used in the production process. This role requires interpreting blueprints, machining components to precise tolerances, and fitting and verifying die components to ensure optimal function. The Die Maker uses a variety of shop tools and equipment, exercises judgment in fabrication and troubleshooting, and ensures dies meet quality standards for production.Job Description:Studies blueprints of product and die, prototype of products, and die modelsVisualizes structure and function of die and plans operations, applying knowledge of shop mathematics, machining, and assembly method, properties of sheet metal under pressure, and metal-forming pressesMeasures, marks, and scribes tools and stock for machiningSets up and operates machine tools, such as lathe, milling machine, and grinder to machine parts to specifications; verifies correctness of machined parts to specificationsLifts machined parts manually or using hoist and positions them on worktable for assemblyShapes, smoothes, and fits flat and contoured surfaces of die members and parts, using hand tools such as stones, files, and powered grindersVerifies dimensions, clearances, and alignment of members and parts in die, using dial indicators, gage blocks, thickness gages, and micrometersDowels and bolts parts together, using hand tools such as hammers and wrenchesMay operate power press, perform final adjustments and refinement operations on die in press, and inspect piece part product, to complete tryout of die for Initial Sample Inspection Report (ISIR)Exercises judgment to manufacture components and dies in timely, efficient manner--using available, real manufacturing capabilitiesPerforms other customer driven or product driven duties as assigned by SupervisorRequirements:Experience level: 1-2 years die maker/die repairEducation: High school or equivalentBlueprint readingKnowledge of tool room equipmentMachining (ID-OD grinding to close tolerances)Manufacturing environmentShop math (geometry, algebra, and trigonometry)Desirable Skills:Computer DraftingEngineering problem solvingGD&TISO 9000MaterialsMechanical draftingTooling designFor additional information please contact Eva Andrews at (843) 410-7791.All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, age, color, sex (including pregnancy), religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable laws or regulations.
