Job Title: GIS Data Analyst – Market ExpansionLocation: Preferred in New York City (NYC) or Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW) area; open to remote candidatesEmployment Type: Long-Term ContractClient Industry: TelecommunicationsOpenings: 2 positionsIdeal Candidate Profile:The ideal candidate has direct experience supporting market expansion efforts for broadband internet service providers (ISPs). They understand how geospatial data informs infrastructure growth and are skilled in identifying underserved or high-opportunity areas for broadband deployment. They are proactive in validating data, comfortable navigating internal data silos, and capable of building strategic reports that guide overbuild and expansion decisions. A strong command of Python and SQL for working with large, complex datasets is essential, along with hands-on experience using GIS platforms like QGIS or ArcGIS.Overview:A client of TEKsystems is building a new strategic team within its engineering organization to identify high-impact opportunities for broadband network expansion. As a GIS Data Analyst, you’ll be a key contributor, using geospatial platforms and large-scale consumer data to uncover untapped markets and guide infrastructure growth.Primary Duties and Accountabilities:Analyze geospatial data to identify underserved markets and potential broadband expansion zones.Develop and maintain spatial models to support strategic planning and overbuild analysis.Use tools such as QGIS, ArcGIS, MapInfo, and proprietary platforms to visualize and interpret geographic trends.Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract and manipulate large datasets from internal and cloud-based sources (GCP).Build automated scripts and workflows in Python to clean, transform, and analyze data.Validate data sources and cross-reference internal datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency.Collaborate with engineering, planning, and business strategy teams to align data insights with expansion goals.Create dashboards, maps, and reports that clearly communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.Investigate and resolve data gaps by proactively engaging with internal teams and systems.Top Skills – Must Haves:Strong experience with Python for data processing, automation, and analysis.Advanced SQL skills for querying and managing large relational datasets.Hands-on experience with GIS platforms such as QGIS, ArcGIS, or MapInfo.Proven ability to work with large-scale geospatial and consumer datasets.Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools and environments.Strong initiative and analytical mindset — able to chase down data silos and validate information before building models.Understanding of telecom infrastructure and broadband market dynamics.Preferred Qualifications:Experience supporting broadband expansion for ISPs or telecom providers.Background in network planning, engineering, or strategic modeling.Familiarity with consumer segmentation, demographic overlays, and competitive analysis.Experience building visualizations and dashboards using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or GIS-integrated platforms.Employee Value Proposition:This is a rare opportunity to join a newly formed, high-visibility team focused on driving broadband market expansion.
